I've played some games with my Khador/Cryx/Menoth players, and every time I found myself against ridiculous numbers. I know Cygnar pieces are expensive, but even the other players were asking "Is that really x points? Are you sure you did your math right?" Well, I found my problem, I hadn't used a SINGLE theme list, while they were picking practically ONLY theme lists. My revenge goes towards the Khador player who gibbed my trencher list with the WGDS (Ugh.) and had almost double the dudes on the board. So I made this Tier 2 pHaley list. I'm not sure about the T2 benefit, but I think the wording says the LG UA ignores FA (hopefully!).

Comes out to 25. I can focus on Defender as a weapons platform and slap Deadeye on it, and use the LG squads to rip up whatever the PKs get into melee with. The GMCAs will be focusing on units like the Widowmakers or Joe or UAs. I don't have much of an answer to jacks with this list, but scramble should keep whatever they bring held up.

Any ideas?

Cygnar isn't about spamming as many troops on the board as you can. We control the board and do mass wipes of enemy single wounders. Then assassinate.

If you wanna play Spam, just go for:

pHaley (+5)
Stormclad (10)
Long Gunners (max) w UA (9)
Long Gunners (max) w UA (11)
=25pts

It's bascially like the list above, only the Stormclad is better in melee, it now has more (and better) shooting, and you don't have the drag of 2 GMCA who in that list will just get targeted by everything the opponent has turns 1 & 2. Sure, you don't have the Precursors, but a min unit as your only front line probably won't help too much anyway. Might as well just shoot your opponent off the table as best as you can.

I don't think it's a great list, and in fact, it'll probably lose something fierce in a Scenario game, but it could be fun to try it once... you know... if you're craving revenge.

If you really want revenge on infantry spam from your opponent you have a couple options. Caine1 will single handedley clear a portion of the board on his feat turn which is always huge fun. Another option is the Thunderhead, or for less points the minuteman, to auto-hit those high def models like winterguard under bob & weave. Walking up the thunderhead to his winterguard deathstar and pulsing will probably have your opponent asking whether his points cost is correct ...but in the opposite direction. ("He's only how many points? That's broken, your math must be wrong" )

Cygnar has many ways to take down the WGDS (we are, after all, a very accurate faction) and really, the 2 models that make the WGDS so potent are Joe & the Officer. This has been written about many times on these forums, so I'm not going to list ways to defeat them, but if you take them down then the Winter Guard are not nearly as scary/potent.

To the OP, unfortunately for us, Theme lists aren't really that effective overall. We've got 4 by my count that are somewhat decent. They are eHaley's Storm Bringers, eNemo's Weathermen, Blaize's Army of Light, and Kraye's Mobile Strike Force (though many argue for eStryker's & Darius' lists as well.) Typically you can do better without going theme, and really, we don't have a lot of points saved, so you're still going to be out-numbered. This isn't necessarily bad, as we're a good ranged faction who tends to get the first hit to even the score, get slaughtered by the retaliation, and then retaliate with what survived and go for assassination. That's our Theme if you ask me. It's also what makes Cygnar an exciting army to play.

Yeah, my goal here isn't raw infantry spam, rather I wanted to make use of a Haley tier list more than anything. I'd take the THead, but at 25 points I'm basically building a list around keeping him alive. Looking at the themes, sure, we don't have much that synergies super well, but free points are free points. I'd hate to get bogged down by thinking Cygnar can only be played one way.
