    Default Hi.

Hi, I'm new here. My name is Ricky and I've been into wargaming for about 15 years now. I've mainly only played GW stuff but I have just started to delve into Privateer Press.

I haven't had the chance to play a game yet though of either Warmachine or Hordes so I'm a complete noob on the rules. I picked up the Cryx starter set about 4-5 years ago and I've been painting this week. Below is the link to my blog which has the finished Slayer. I have only painted it to a gaming standard and it is far from my best!

My blog will slowly be updated from now on!

Hopefully I will find the time to get involved on here and share my experiences and advice and also show of some more of my models as I get them done. (If my wallet is kind to me).

Holy cow Ricky, those are some amazing pieces you've painted! My wife was looking over my shoulder and thought the green on the slayer's back was actually glowing. Very impressive stuff - make sure you let the guys in the Painting and Modeling take a look at your future work. I like to lurk around there (I'm still too nervous to post anything), and I'd love to see more of your models as you get them painted!

Anyway, welcome to the forums and the game. Don't hesitate to ask any questions, we have a great community here.

P.S. My wife just pointed this out to me - that slayer is gaming standard?! I saw on your blog that you've won competitions - I would love to see a Cryx model painted to what you consider your best!

Thank you very much, I'm always happy to hear people liking my work. I will be definitely posting bits in the Painting and Modeling section. I've been struggling to get inspired with painting GW things lately but Privateer Press models feel like a breath of fresh air. The Slayer was great fun to paint. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be able to pick up Goreshade the Cursed and I'll paint him to my showcase standard and post it on here to show you.

From what I've read it does seem like a great community not just a place to have a go at each other about stupid things like on most forums.

Is there ever any painting competitions held on here?

I haven't seen any specifically on the forums. In No Quarter, PP's bi-monthly magazine, there are always results of painting competitions. I'm not sure if they're from events or you just send in a photo to be judged (I'm too busy drooling over the models), but it may be worth picking up an issue and checking it out. No Quarter is a great magazine anyway, and I'd recommend it to any WarmaHordes fan.

I'm not sure I can look at them. I just started doing some commission work for a friend who plays Cryx, and looking at your stuff will make me feel like I'm robbing him (even though I'm doing the current one for free!)

Ah you're not robbing him if it's for free. Keep doing the best you can and over time you'll notice a difference.
As promised here's a link to my completed Deathrippers and Defiler including a group shot with the Slayer.
