    Default Help a newbie build a list

    Hello,

    I am a newbie at the most awesome game and need help to make atleast a decent list. I have bought some models and was wondering if these make a list that mioght not be the best list but atleast wont get smashed into oblivion everytime?

    I own the following:

    1 Sorscha
    1 Destroyer
    1 Juggernaut
    1 Spriggan
    1 Behemoth
    1 Khador Gun Carrige
    9 Man-o-war shocktroopers
    9 Man-o-war demolition corpse

    Can I make a 25 point (or 35 point) list out of this? If not, then how can I, with the smallest amount of new models (=money), make a playable list?

    Thanks

    /R

    My biggest concern is that outside of Sorscha your army is incredibly slow. You'll want to pick up more light infantry at some point. Widowmakers are popular for a reason. They can clear out plenty of 1 wound infantry every turn. Then you have units like the Assassin's and IFP that are very difficult to hit but who also do very well in melee. Shocktroopers are excellent at absorbing a charge, but they are so expensive (points wise) and so slow that I rarely work them into my lists.

    My normal advice would be to play with what you have until you get an idea of what your army lacks. Then by the faction deck and start to proxy some of our units in until you settle on a model/unit. Unfortunately, everything you have is so expensive points wise that it's hard to create a list. You might want to consider picking up the War Dog since it is just a point, or the Widowmakers, since they are a very common purchase and will make a lot of your lists.

    Here's a possible 25 point list to start:

    Sorscha +5
    -- Behemoth 13
    -- Juggernaut 7
    -- War Dog 1

    Gun Carriage 9

    You'll be throwing around a ton of AOE's every turn, and generating rough terrain to try and slow the enemy's advance. The idea here would be to look for the assassination kill. Sorscha can cover a lot of ground thanks to Wind Rush, so look for any opportunity to catch their warcaster with her feat, and use Behemoth and the Gun Carriage to get the kill. If their caster stays back, or if you see an opportunity to cripple their army, use the feat to catch as many of their infantry as you can. Infantry cannot activate the next round when stationary. If you can tie up or kill his warjacks on your feat turn while his infantry is unable to retaliate, you should be at an advantage.
    Also, I only called you "indignant" because I thought "petulant man-child" was insulting.

    1 Sorscha
    - Behemoth
    Gun Carriage
    5 MoW Shocktroopers

    25 point list that isn't the greatest or the most efficient use of points, but would be a good way to get your foot in the door thanks to a low model count. That way you can still play fast and don't have to juggle all sorts of unit interactions.

    Use the Gun Carriage to clear charge lanes, run up Sorscha, pop feat, run up the Behemoth (loaded down with focus) and not much can stand up to an auto-hitting, armor piercing STR 12 attack. Two of them in fact. At least. :-)

    Once you figure out your playstyle, you can add from there, but with that many MoW models already, maybe plan on going hard on the Infantry and grabbing a dedicated Infantry support caster, such as Epic Irusk.

    This is 1 point over. pSorscha has only 5 warjack points.

    So behemoth and gun carriage and some other things? Is Sorscha a good caster, or should I go for another with the models I have?

    System: Warmachine
    Faction: Khador
    Casters: 1/1
    Points: 35/35
    Kommander Harkevich, the Iron Wolf
    * Behemoth
    * Destroyer
    * Spriggan
    Battle Mechaniks (Leader and 3 Grunts)
    Man-o-war Demolition Corps (Leader and 2 Grunts)

    System: Warmachine
    Faction: Khador
    Casters: 1/1
    Points: 25/25
    Kommander Harkevich, the Iron Wolf
    * Behemoth
    * Destroyer
    Battle Mechaniks (Leader and 3 Grunts)
    Man-o-war Demolition Corps (Leader and 2 Grunts)

    should be workable and only need to buy harkevich, mechanics(which u prob want anyway with owning so many jacks)
    Consider buying the upgrade kit and change the destroyer arm to get black ivan(his character jack)

    You could also make some decent lists with eIrusk - he can boost the speed of those troopers, and he works well with the Carriage and the Jacks.

    Thanks for all the help. I am reading and reading up on everything but there is soooo many combinations. What about pVlad. Is he good (seems so for a newbie atleast)?

    pVlad is very good, IMO. Especially for someone learning the game, since I don't think he has any "tricks" like our other casters. The biggest question with pVlad is whether to cast S&P or BoK on each turn. You'll probably also want to look at Drago if you look at any of the Vlads.

    If money is not a concern, pick them up. I've found them to be a lot of fun to play, and are on my purchase list. If you want to make best use out of your cash though, I would suggest the Faction Deck instead. Then you can proxy in whatever model/unit you want to try first, to see if you actually like them or not. If you go this route, your next model purchase should be for some small based infantry. You have all the other base sizes covered.

    I managed to find some used figures at a second hand shop which only set med back about 20 euros. I know possess the following (and I hope I did not buy any models which are crap).

    1 Vlad
    1 Sorscha
    1 Destroyer
    1 Juggernaut
    1 Spriggan
    1 Behemoth
    1 Khador Gun Carrige
    9 Man-o-war shocktroopers
    9 Man-o-war demolition corpse
    6 Battle mechanics
    4 Widowmakers

    I hope I am approaching something which could work.

    You did good. Widowmakers are a faction staple, and battle mechaniks are very good. I need to work them into more of my lists.
