    Default Skype/Kinect IKRPG

Wondering what the interest is in an online campaign. I have never been a DM/GM but would be willing to give it a go with some tolerant players. Or perhaps there is someone excited to run a campaign online.

It is a tad early but it would be cool to get a group started figure our dynamics and play style/interest.

I'd be interested - never played an RPG before, but I should be able to figure it out, once the game is released.

Half of our gaming group is skyping in nowadays. I have to say, I'm not a fan. People have trouble hearing. Any kind of map or miniatures use is almost impossible. Connections issues. Skype also has an annoying issue with two or more people talking at the same time.

Map/miniatures use shouldn't be much of a problem - thats what Vassal is for.

I'd be interested. Tried what you're discussing before, and it worked for a time before university caught up with us all.

I would potentially be interested. I like using something like team speak, vent or mumble instead of skype. Using push to talk helps clear up some of the issues with a number of people talking at once or background noise issues.

As for maps, a program like vassel or maptools works well. I also used a itabletop.com for a shadowrun game last year. It worked fairly well and doesn't really require an extra software to be installed.

    Try infrno.net

we have been using to plan DnD for almost a year now and really enjoy it. It had an easy to use online game table, and is free. Has built in audio/video chat. Works great with 4 people.. can get sketchy with more but still playable.

I second this. I just moved across the country from my old gaming group, and I'm using Skype to continue to play with them. The sound issues are absolutely horrible. It alternates back and forth from so loud I can hear it in the next room over to so quiet I can't hear it when I'm sitting right next to the speakers. I have to mute my microphone or the feedback makes it ten times worse. It also has a hard time with people who have baritone voices, and anything high pitched (like my friend who likes to whistle and does so as kind of a habit even though I've pointed this out) completely takes over the microphone... you can't hear *anything* else. The choppy video and lack of glare control on most cameras I can deal with... I generally don't have too much of an issue with telling people what mini I'm going to attack or whatever... but more than a few times I've had to resort to just typing things back and forth on the chat bar because I can't understand half of what's said.

I'm gonna try Google+ for video and see how that works, but my hopes aren't very high.
It's not a question of win or lose, it's a question of whether or not you want to have friends afterwards.

I may be interested. I'm currently in a play-by-post IK that's not really advancing anywhere fast, and a eDnD via Mumble and Maptools. The current versions of skype seem to have regressed in sound quality and functionality. Push-to-Talk is likewise very useful. Maptools may work, but it is a heavy learning curve, I don't know much of other formats.

Hi folks, long time D&D player here from Connecticut. Moved to the sticks of NY state some years ago and haven't played in a long time. The idea of a network game has always intrigued me. Please count me in if that's a possibility. I have a Teamspeak server all set up where some friends and myself hang out. We already have a bunch of rooms set up for various games, and I'd be glad to set up a room just for role playing.

    Keep me posted.
