    Default Help with Kaelyssa lists 15/25/35/50

    Hi,

    I've always been somewhat curious about Retribution but decided to settle for Khador instead. I'm having great fun with Khador, but just want a little something else on the side to bring for tournaments and stuff everynow and then (don't tell the Empress)

    I have a really strong meta where I am - it's pretty full on and challenging (and really good fun) so I've tried to build up lists that I'll enjoy playing with as well as something that's pretty competative. I've settled on Kaelyssa and Rhan as my two tournament casters (still working on Rhan lists at the moment).

    Here are the lists and I would appreciate any feedback and suggestions.

    15pts
    Kaelyssa (+7)
    - Banshee 10
    - Phoenix 10
    2 Arcanists 2

    Simple start - I like these 2 'jacks and the arcanists help them out greatly. Should hopefully start teaching me the basics. Banshee looks pretty wild and it's abilities are pretty sweet. The Phoenix is wild - and the Arcanists will make both these of these fellas pretty tough.

    25pts
    Kaelyssa (+7)
    - Banshee 10
    - Phoenix 10
    10 Mage Hunter Strike Force
    - Mage Hunter Commander 10
    2 Arcanists 2

    To make it to 25pts I simply add a full unit Mage Hunter Strike Force. These guys are rock solid from what I can see (and what I've had used against me!).

    35pts

    - Phoenix 10
    6 Dawnguard Sentinels
    - Sentinel Officer and Standard 8
    10 Mage Hunter Strike Force
    - Mage Hunter Commander 10
    Mage Hunter Assassin 2
    2 x Arcanists 2

    35pts see's the addition of 6 Sentinels (for added punch) and their UA which makes them pretty damn awesome. Mage Hunter Assasin goes in because they're awesome.

    50pts
    Kaelyssa (+7)
    - Banshee 10
    - Phoenix 10
    10 Dawnguard Sentinels
    - Sentinel Officer and Standard 11
    - Gorgon 5
    10 Mage Hunter Strike Force
    - Mage Hunter Commander 10
    2 Mage Hunter Assassin 4
    4 Stormfall Archers 5
    2 Arcanists 2

    The final 15pts gets the Sentinels upgraded to a Max Unit. I've added a Gorgon which will be Jackmarshalled by them. Gorgon will be used to shut down units or big scary things for a turn - and with pronto I should be able to get it where it needs to be I don't expect it to last long and this is probably the one thing im still thinking about. I also add in the last MHA and a Stormfall Archers

    Any feedback on these lists and build up to them would be greatly appreciated. I'll have to play them lots to learn (oh no! ) but hopefully they're good in theory. And these lists will be for tournaments (I only expect to use the 35pts and 50pts).

    Default K advice

    I've recently played a dozen or so games with K from 15 to 35. I think your lists look good. I especially like the way you built them all from the same base. That means that all of your experiences with the list will apply across the board. I believe this will improve your play with her faster as each game will build directly upon the experiences of those before it.

    My goal with K is to make the enemy spend 2 turns in shooting range of the MHSF or whatever ranged unit you choose to bring. I watch very carefully my opponents threat range and move my shooting units up to just outside threat range, feat, and try to shoot the stuff that can run to engage me. Then they tend to try and run something into melee with the MHSF.

    If they make it, I can usually dig them out between a few CMAs and some sacrifice movement to aim shots. You can also walk a Phoenix in behind them and combust to clear them off - remember you can measure the Phoenix's melee range at any time during his activation which will allow you to precisely place the combustion to not hit the MHSF.

    I'd love to place the Sentinels in front of them as a reach, weapon master screen but the sentinels are too slow to get in front of the MHSF and I can't afford to wait for that shuffle to happen.
