So I started playing gunny and guided fire is definitely my favorite spell. It becomes so much easier to get critical hits with it. And I have been using janissa for double rock wall fun for my fens. Anybody else have any Gunny love?

Despite the haters, I've always loved Gunnbjorn. The increased critical hit chance with Impalers is fantastic. One of my favorites to take with him is Slag Trolls. Two attacks with boosted to hit and damage rolls can wreck face on jacks and wolds. His feat can be a little underwhelming but when used right can have some good mileage. Lately I've been taking Sluggers with him to great effect. Snipe plus a rock wall or two allows them to get off rapid fire fairly regularly while staying alive. The one indispensable piece to his army is the Runebearer. Gunnbjorn is a fury hog so casting guided fire for only two focus or being able to throw out an extra snipe on a key turn is huge. One other fun tactic is taking two Thumper Crews and sending an Impaler to escort each of them. Running on turn one and far strike on turn two means they can usually out threat your enemy, knocking down key heavies and making your enemy shake off. By turn three, they don't need far strike and the Impalers can do their own thing.

Nice tricks, Magonus! I hope to try out Gunny and some of those shenanigans soon :-)
Ya I run him with an impaled bomber slag right now. I might add another impaler though. If I drop the fens than I would be in his tier list. And trollses is a def must with him

Sorry, but how does Guided Fire increase the chance to get crits?
You roll an extra die to hit from it so you get 3 dice for a chance of getting a crit without having to spend the extra fury on the beast. It gets some hilarious results with the Winter Trolls sprays. It is pretty efficient if you get about 3 beasts that can shoot on your BG. Bombers become fairly accurate, those Winter Trolls get a chance to earn back their points, and those crit slams on the impalers start to add up.
Soooo... instead of boosting (rolling three dice) you're using guided fire (rolling three dice)? Where does the better crit chance come from?
Edit: I'm not trying to say he's not good or fun (I really like him too!) but I don't understand what you're saying.![]()

My question is why can't gunny be competitive? We have damage buffs from our light beasts who says u have to just shoot with him?

I have been running a tier gunny list. 2 bombers 2 impalers, 2 thumpers, a slag a bunch of whelps and whatever else. The slag is key for if the weakened enemy does get too close my bombers become pow+str 17 which is better than 15 and usually enough. It's a lot of knockdown and such. However it is certainly not an all comers list.
I've been playing Gunny exclusively in a league we are playing. Had a large amount of success too. Its been a great way to figure him out. I settled on a high risk/ high reward style of play with him. Once I get a few more games in against top tier casters I think I might write an article about it to see what people think.
The arguement that X only worked because Y was a terrible player, or any form of this assertion, is never a valid point in forum discussion and should thus be ignored.
Cant wait to read it

I love Gunny as well. My main complaint about him is that he does tend to get a little repetative after a while. ie, you're pretty much doing (and casting) the same things with him every turn, regardless of the situation. In my experience with him, that is.

I think some people misconstrue constructive criticism for haters. Gunnbjorn is fun, and has some good tools to deal with certain lists. But he isn't top tier competitive because there are simply too many 'hard counters' to Gunnbjorn at the tournament scene. I'd wager that Gunny can do well in the right situation, but if he has to face the wrong list it is very hard to win with him.
Some of our other casters have less hard counters, making them better choices for tournament based lists.

Gunny is probably our most fun warlock in my opinion. And by fun I mean for both me and my opponent.
Since my Gunny army relies a lot on ranged Crits, the unpredictability of the effects makes for great gaming moments. And a lot less ego-bruising in the wins, or losses!
Rok is gonna make my Gunny armies a little bit less rangey, but more durable for the inevitable melee engagements.
A Stealth-eliminating Trollblood solo (a Spotter for example) would probably help Gunny be a bit more competitive, eliminating that bad match-up blind spot.
