    What Chud said.

I grow tired of consoling my iPad and talking her off the ledge. She's very sad as of late, and a certain app would really do wonders for improving her mood and giving her a reason to live.

My iPad's happiness is in your hands PP...please do the right thing.

Please include a year with all release predictions for accuracy.

I've been looking at it this way, a month has three mostly equal parts, beginning, middle and end. If you want to break that up into mostly equal numbers the first of the month should be the 1st - 10th. The middle of the month is the 11th - 20th. The end should be the 21st - 28th/30th/31st.

As this is a 31 day month and you want to procrastinate the middle as long as possible the middle will end up being the 11th - 21st instead of the 20th. So, it should be out by Monday because I just don't see it happening over the weekend.

Did they actually say Mid-May 2012 or just Mid-May?

If they release it 2 days before locknload, and it isn't completely *Perfect*, there might be some major backlash at L&L.

I play Khador, Minions, and soon to be Convergence of Cyriss.

Look at this way: At least until War Room is released, if you catch your opponent playing with his phone, you can be fairly sure he's goofing off and not paying attention to the game.

If all else fails, counterattack. At least you'll go down with dice in your hand.

If it isn't out by the end of the day TODAY, I will officially stop caring.

I will just wait until someone else tells me, as opposed to checking the site 47 times a day.

For as good as Privateer is for responding to the player base I just don't see why they won't give us ANY kind of update at all. In most cases I don't think you would have to, but with the mass number of people on the forums just begging for ANY kind of update at all I think it's kinda sad that no one from PP will give us anything. The icing on the cake for this is someone from PP closed the War Room FAQ with absolutely 0 mention on any updates at all.

I'm not even asking for an exact date. I really think all they need to do is get someone from PP on a thread saying something along the lines of, hey it will be very soon, or we're having some difficulties and we'll let you know. I really think this would alleviate a lot of the people starting to get upset. Closing the thread and not saying anything was kinda rude, even if it was getting off topic. Just don't leave us in the dark PP, we are your community!!

How often do you want updates? Hourly? Daily? Wouldn't that time be better spent working on the app, rather than telling you it's not out yet?

We have loads of examples of how PP does release dates: They don't. Whether it's models, books or (now) software, PP does not do release dates. PP's philosophy has always been that they would rather delay product until it is right than release bad product.

Indeed - keep hold of the app until the iPad jumps. Better-adjusted Android tablets would recognise that the app will come out when it is ready.

When reasonable? And considering the estimated date they gave came and went (unless you want to argue is still mid May) we are within a time frame that an update is reasonable.

Again, it would be better to just say they don't have a release date instead of moving it to a time frame, getting to that time frame, and then delaying it again. I'd rather them officially say its out when it's out instead of comstantly moving it back.

Since I'm one of the more, um, fervently impatient ones around here, I'd like to apologize. I'm still new to WMH and everything is new and nifty to me. One of my worst habits is letting my enthusiasm get the better of me.

As for everyone's collective impatience, I'd like to chalk it up to the technofetishism that has become enshrined in American culture. As a nation, we seem to be obsessed with the latest gadget and what it can do for us. I happen to think it's fairly awesome that I can carry twenty pounds of gaming books on a kindle that weighs less than a paperback book. How cool is that?

How about one per month? Or atleast one now when ppl are getting angry. I agree with you, it will take the time it takes and there is no need for hate against PP. But how hard/much time would it take too go on the forums and say "hey, quick update x is happening right now. Be understanding about our situation!".

No info is leading players too belive there wont be any app at all.

I don't think people would be chomping at the bit, so to speak, if PP hadn't done two things:
    - Build up hype for War Room
    - Stop iBodger

Had those two things not happened (especially the second) I don't think we would see such public outcry as we are getting.
I'm in the unfortunate position of having lost many of my cards a few weeks ago, but I don't want to buy all new cards for fear of wasting my money due to War Room having a "mid-May" release date. My gaming group is having a tournament this weekend and now I'm having difficulty building lists because I don't have cards for many of my models. I had plenty of time to buy new cards and have them drift through the mail system in time, but why spend so much money when War Room is on the horizon? If War Room had been released already...well you get the point. I need this app!

The last thread wasnt about the release date for war room, it was an FAQ thread that got hijacked.

The FAQ thread was closed because it had drifted off-topic into a stream of complaints about War Room not having been released and iBodger having been shut down. That said, it would be nice if we could get some sort of update from Tinkerhouse/PP once a week or so.

I'll certainly admit it's mid-May, and an announcement would be helpful, but I'm definitely sure there are better ways to sequester information than to berate the forums.

There's been an amazingly civil thread in the M&P forum, discussing what it means to be a comission painter, and pricing, etc (HERE), and it's been incredibly civil and on-topic. PP's community is one of the most mature, helpful and insightful communities I've ever been a part of, yet, when threads discuss War Room, they always devolve into demands, doom and despair - leading to the dark side.

I certainly think the "technofetishism", as WarpedWolf so aptly named it, of today's culture doesn't help. When it comes to software, we're used to having access instantly. *Especially* when it comes to mobile apps. I understand the feelings (I share them, in fact), I just think there is a better way to express them, and to get the information so many people seek.

Perhaps I'm idealistic or naive, but I'd much rather see posts of encouragement and displays of continued interest, rather than demands and displeasure.

    @Plarzoid

First thing I would like to say, as a Mod of these forums I don't feel you need to be coming at me as rude as you did. That is pretty unacceptable and surprised you would do that. I'm pretty angry with your response and....just wow, for a MOD.....just wow.

Now, did I say I wanted a daily or hourly update??? Let me check back over the post real quick......nope sure didn't. The last update we had was around mid April, I believe when the delay was announced. As for your other comment about them working on the app, spending 5 minutes to write a quick post updating a very anxious and impatient community would do wonders for a lot of these people. Oh yea, they aren't even the ones working on/making the app, it's Tinkerhouse. That makes that comment even more invalid.

They don't do release dates? So then what is that section on the main page under "New Releases" that contains models with.....what's that? Oh yea release dates!!! I'm not asking for a release date, I just feel that PP should address the community with something to put them at ease.

Mod_Plarzoid, as a Mod of these forums I would expect you to not come on here being rude to someone. I'm disappointed in you and you should not be doing that as a moderator of these forums.

My frustration with this (and Colossal, really) is the total lack of communication when:

    a) PP was very good at keeping in touch with the community
    b) the are at least supporting some of their products via post, here and in other places (something that I appreciate, mind you) with forums posts.

Perhaps I'm just getting old and was spoiled by the old PP.

    @SgtPepper:

First of all, I have every right to express my opinions here as you do.

That said, you're right. I'm to be held to a higher standard - set an example. I apologize if my post came across as inflammatory, that wasn't my intention. I'll remove my quote of you from my original post - I wasn't attacking you personally. Quoting the last post in a thread is a habit of mine - I usually take a long time to write my posts, and I'm usually several posts behind the one I'm discussing. I like to quote the post I'm referring to, so I don't seem to come out of nowhere in a given discussion. Please believe me when I say it wasn't aimed at you at all.

I apologize for what seemed like a personal attack, that was the last thing I was trying to do, and goes against the very thing I was trying to say.

In the future, however, if you have an issue with someone, attacking them *in* the thread is not helpful. It starts a flame war, gets the thread off topic, and generally doesn't help because the person attacked wants to defend themselves publicly, etc. PMs are better for that sort of thing.

EDIT: I'm not saying attack people in PMs - no matter what, personal issues should be handled calmly. However, resolving personal conflicts in a civilized manner in PMs doesn't derail the thread

When have they ever not given a release date several months in advance? Seriously man, they have for every model released in the past 5 years or more.

I am on the side of PP and despite people telling me that it is "everyone at PP's fault" I don't believe that.

I understand contractors are hard to work with. Also it is pretty hard as a professional to eat crow and go to your client and say:
"You know what, I screwed up, I picked a bad contractor and now both of us are suffering. The product/service you requested has either not been delivered or has been delivered poorly and I have a lot of capital invested in this product/service."

No matter whose "Fault" it is you blame yourself and it is an awful position to be in. Especially when the contractor isn't even from the same industry as you are (miniature versus software development.)

I was really hoping for War Room today, but you know what life goes on. I KNOW that the guys at PP wanted War Room to be out BEFORE today and are likely more frustrated than I could ever be. I am not losing sleep over War Room, likely there is at least 1 PP employee who is.

    I feel bad for them.

I would just like better communication. I would just like to know what is going on, good news or bad news (or even no news.)

A quick forum post saying "Guys we have been trying to contact Tinkerhouse games for 3 days now and they aren't getting back to us. We will update as soon as we know more." would be something.

I think this sums up this thread very well.

A quick forum post saying "Guys we have been trying to contact Tinkerhouse games for 3 days now and since they are playing Diablo III they aren't getting back to us. We will update as soon as we know more." would be something.

Sometimes it's just poor communication (contractor doesn't build what the client asked for) or, the client didn't know what they really wanted (poor project description / work details), or worse yet, what everyone thought would work nicely, doesn't, so it has to be completely re-worked.

(I'm a sub-contractor, and have to deal with this sort of thing. It can be a nightmare.)

I feel your pain. I'm in a similar situation.

If all else fails, counterattack. At least you'll go down with dice in your hand.
Lose or win gracefully and with good humor, and you will never lack for opponents.
Always remember the dice hate everyone. That includes you.

I agree, we employee subcontractors all of the time and it can be a mixed bag. There have been many times that I have had to put on my armor and pick up the phone and get ready to eat a lot of crow because something beyond my control has screwed up a project. BUT I still do make the phone call (i.e. I still communicate with my clients.)
