How many brigands?

Hello.
I currently have 16 Farrow Brigands (max+min) and I'm thinking whether or not should I buy another box.
What do you guys think? How many brigands do you own and field? Are 2 max/3 min units useful?

Options are good, so I personally would go with the 2 max/3 min option.

Of course, if I actually played the Piggies instead of the Gators, I would have max pact FA for them like I do my Gators... But I am a bit of a crack monkey gamer, so...

I have been debating the idea of trying 3 max brigands, plus 3 razorbacks and 4 gunboars+Targ with S&D in Thornfall. Nothing like having 16/def 16/arm ranged troops everywhere and immune to your own blasts. I picture it as a full war of attrition.

But I guess the question for you is: with what caster? With Carver, obviously more the better. If the option is more versus diversifying and trying other casters, SH etc...I'd be more torn.

**EDIT: agreed with Ghost_of_Rage though that SH are fantastic with Carver as well.

I'd say what you have now is the right amount, and that you should think about picking up a unit of Slaughterhousers if you haven't already. I've found Slaughterhousers to be an incredible unit, especially with Carver.

Well, "the right amount" is debatable I have ten Brigands, and I find that to be fine. So I'd say that you're going to be just fine with the 16 you already have

Yeah, it depends... my money is on playing with what you have for a while and see if you feel the need for more. If you're playing a few games and think, "Wow, I wish I had had just a few more Brigands." then you have your answer. Cost is also a factor - if you find a nice deal somewhere, and have the $$$, jump at it.

Or you can be like me - the aforementioned "crack monkey gamer" per MagnustheJust - and max things out. I got a few sweet deals myself and ended up with six min units. I can run Carver's Tiers at an insane level with those six min units or run the Pact at max FA with three max units. But I'm a bit crazy like that.

I personally have 2 max 3 min but I so want 3 max because I love running the brigands. But to each his own, most people on here will tell you to buy SH over brigands but I just prefer the versatility and since I end up playing a lot of attrition games, versatility with survive ability is better than being able to hit hard but struggling up the board.

Lets use Maths to figure this out.

(Carvers Elite Cadre) x (Mat+Quagmire) x (Carvers feat) x (Dig In+Prayers) + Discounted cost of Carver's tier list in minimum units = 5 Minimum units of brigands, or 30 brigands, and you should be golden for anything short of Unbound.

When I first started Farrow I did 1 full unit of Brigands and 1 Full unit of Bone Grinders and that worked for games to about 25-35 points. For 50 points unless you wanted to run Brigands heavy 2 should do ya as you have em. I currently can run 2 max + 1 min or 4 min Brigands.


Slaughterhousers a a solid unit just be sure to screen them with that min unit of Brigands you have. I think Dmark has it right, take what you got and throw them hard at your opponent and see what they can do for you as they are now. Part of the flare with Brigands is know which of their PRAYERS to use each turn. Always use one! Always, remember to use it first if you're going to charge or run.
