This summer, when team Sweden will cross the sea and travell to England to participate in the Maelstrom ETC we will take the opportunity to reenact the old history between the Vikings and the Britts, wich means stealing their women, burning their houses and killing all able men. To do that, practice is needed and I blew of the dust from my faithful Menites and blessed my dice, preparing to bathe in the glory of victory!
This is the first draft of my list, but a few changes is already at hand.
For a start, I believe I've promised my team to do around 20 practice games before the ETC, so that I will be in shape of a conquerer, wich will be suitable for the winning team. Being pressed hard by real life obligations, it will probably end up being more around 10 games or so, but will that do? We will see.Protectorate of Menoth
Harbinger of Menoth
>Reckoner
>Vanquisher
>Hierophant
Avatar of Menoth
Max Flameguards
Min Choir
2 x Vassal of Menoth
Rhupert Carvolo, Piper of Ord
The Covenant of Menoth
Visgoth Rhoven & Honor Guard
High Paladin Dartan Vilmon
Paladin of the Wall
3 Wracks
55/55
Possible changes to the list:
The first changes I had in mind in the list is the inclusion of Gorman and Nicia, probably removing either Vilmon and the Paladin or Rhoven & Honor Guard (with the later, also adding a Vassal Mechanic)
Practice game 1:
For my first practice game, I saw myself up against a rock hard pIrusk list with tons of infantery. Four full units to be exact with the Behemoth in the middle. Inhospital Ground really mess with my list and even though I have Rhupert, he can only support my units and the main heart of my list is the 'jacks. Advancing up in rough terrain is bad news for Menoth. Also, my list actually lack good infantery removal. Yes, I have Harbingers feat and yes, I have the Vanquisher with Vassal support but that will not help all the way. Under the feat the whole Khador list got 4+ Tough and with Battle Lust just a few troopers is enough to mess up my 'jacks.
The game ended up being close and hard fought, both players being very careful. I missplayed a bit and failed to make good use of Fear of God wich is such a great spell versus the list opposite me, making the damage and threat range of units much more to my favour. In the end I won by time, but I really need to shape up my game for upcoming games.
Lessons learned:
1. Make better use of Harbingers spell list
2. Don't put support behind 'jacks with Enliven
3. Learn to play faster
4. A unit with a ranged attack would help me alot versus infantery
