Captain Amador D. list at 50
So I'm thinking about some weird 3rd lists for an event later this year. It's an invitational and requires 3 lists at 50. Now I'm pretty sure I'm running Gorten, possibly Durgen as my 2 but not sure about the third yet. I really like Bad Seeds so that may be a choice but I'd like to also try something else that has a good chance at sceanario wins and is good against both Warmachine and Hordes.
Here's my crazy list idea. Tell me what you think.
Captain Amador D. <6>
Nomad 6
Max Press Gangers 6
Max Sea Dogs 8
+Walls 2
+Max WA 3
Rorsch and Brine 9
Doc Killingsworth 2
Eiryss2 3
Hawk 2
Gorman 2
Ragman 2
Rockbottom 2
Dougal 2
Bokur 3
Rhupert 2
Grogspar 2
So this is a Highborn list and everything but Amador, the Nomad, and Brine are Advanced Deploy. INSANE! And with Souie, you may as well say Brine is AD too. That's some fast moving action right there. I should be able to swarm objectives.
I have Rhupert there to give pathfinder and to tough the Sea Dogs so I can use coins for other things.
The Bokur will probably be on Amador but I may run him with Rorsch just to get him into action quicker.
Feat turn means a lot of hard hitting stuff and with my tough rolls I have a good chance of surviving through the initial onslaught relatively intact. I've got a lot of hidden damage potential with shooting. Sea Dogs with Deadeye, Money Shot, and Double Powder rations are surprisingly deadly against most casters.
Thoughts about this being dumb and having no shot against some of the nastier lists? Anything I'll run into that will give me a ton of trouble barring Harby/Old Witch type feats?

With SureFooted you might want to skip Grogspar and put something instead like:
Two units of (min) press gangers removing the (max) unit as well.
That (solo) guy that pays an Upkeep for your caster (Sure Foot for free).
Trade Nomad for a Rover (three initial attacks).
-
I always suggest taking Gallant with Damiano - Surefoot pushes him to DEF 15 . . . that's scary on a heavy warjack.
-
@Tavitin....
while Surefoot is solid, I have a lot of ways to double up in this list and that's one of the things I like about it. Between Grogspar and Surefoot, I can spread my forces pretty wide and still have no KD on most of it.
I haven't thought about Wishnailer so that's a good idea. I'll give it some thought about what to take out. Not sure if he's worth it here though as Amador doesn't do alot besides buff and should have enough focus. On Fiona he's the man though.
I don't like the Rover.
@Alpha Dork.....Gallant is a good idea. I'd have to trade the Nomad and the Bokur for him. However, while a 15 is nasty on a heavy, I'm not sure I like giving up the additonal damage output that the Bokur brings or the mobility that he gives for shield guard. I'll have to seriously think about this though. It's a good idea, I just rarely get to practice and all my play is typically in tourneys so I don't get many chances to switch up and test out the differences. I've missed half the events in the last couple of months too. Sucks.

@LiamPiver - Where as 90% of my play time is weekends down at the good ole LGS which, while providing a fairly competetive atmosphere, is nothing like playing regularly in Hardcore or Steamroller events. It does lead to different list building and affords my the opportunity to try out my crazy ideas. BTW - I liked your original list but Gallant is such a great fit for Damiano when you plan on just taking one warjack (sometimes I go crazy and give him a second heavy) that I had to suggest it. I was re-reading you post and I'm pretty sure that Moneyshot only works on Steelhead units (don't have Wrath handy) if it could target other units I'd be fielding Damiano in HB with the ATGM's a lot more often.
Also, don't give up on the Rover. After a few proxied test games he's rapidly becoming the second heavy I try and fit in to most of my non-Rhulic lists.

I was talking about Money Shot from Lord Rockbottom there. LOL. I know it gets confusing. I'm doubling down on a ton of different abilities here. But that's why I like this list or think I like it. We'll see depending on how well it does in an event soon. The good thing is that even if I lose some characters I'll still have other ways to make up for their loss with no knockdown, tough, etc.
You know, I'm convinced. I really like Gallant and I'll drop the Bokur and Nomad for him. Rorsch and Brine are acting as my secondary heavies. Amador's feat works on them. Man Brine is a monster under that feat especially against Hordes where sometimes I'll make him a weapon master when I need those hits to count like against Angeli.
Tell you what. I'll try the Rover out at some point soon just to give him a shot. I think he will actually be good with Shae at higher points. That's a lot of attacks for free with Coup de Main.

Ok, so I had a 35 point little happening this weekend. I took this list but paired down from the 50. I took:
Amador <6>
Nomad 6
Wishnailer 2
Max Sea Dogs 8
-Walls 2
-3 Riflemen 3
Max Gangers 6
Rhupert 2
Alexia2 4
Hawk 2
Grogspar 2
Doc 2
Rockbottom 2
Played three rounds.
Round 1 was against Ret (Ossyan). I managed to get the ball going with some CP work forcing the opponent to compensate to prevent a win via CPs. He put his caster in a bad spot. Lots of Money Shot, Dead Eye Sea Dog crew shots later and his caster was dead.
Round 2 was against Legion (Vayl1). I got the first CP because he didn't quite get his Carni in the zone. Some lucky gun fire and a crazy roll from a charging Hawk later and his Warbeast bit the dust. He played well considering but I killed everything but his pot (killed all of it's infantry though), a Ravogore, and his caster. I slammed the Ravogore out of the zone with my Nomad getting the final CP.
Round 3 was against Skorne (Hexy2). I didn't get any CPs here. Guy was incredibly aggressive with his first Titan Glad and was threatening my caster turn 2. I put three on the Nomad, cast warpath and moved my caster out of the way. My guys killed a model allowing my Nomad to get into walking distance of the Titan Glad. I walked up and blew all my focus taking him down to about 8 wounds. I managed to kill him with a charge from Grogspar and something else. The next round I was able to charge my feated Nomad into his other Titan Glad with full focus and kill him. That pretty much put me out of harms way with my caster sitting at big numbers. Hexy tried for an assasination but with a 17 D from Surefoot and the feat I was pretty safe. The Nomad walked up and tried a boosted Power Attack Headbutt on Hexy but missed, I bought a sword and missed. So then I managed to throw a Nihilator with Grogspar into Hexy killing the Nihilator and knocking Hexy down. He took no damage from it but Alexia was full on souls and charged the knocked down Hexy. A couple transfers later and dead Hexy.

Having went through 3 rounds with 3 wins, what were your impressions on your list and what synergies were working well for you?
-
Well, bad tough rolls will screw it over or anything that negates tough. These guys die to a stiff breeze and even Damiano's +3 Arm really doesn't do jack for them.
A really high armor jack/beast brick would cause some issues potentially. A heavy infantry brick wouldn't be that bad though as long as Hawk is still alive.
Losing Rhupert sucks because I lose Pathfinder and Dirge of Mists.
Overall good syngergies.
Well Deadeye and Money Shot on the Sea Dogs really goes a long way.
Surefoot on Alexia2 with her behind a unit of Sea Dogs and Grogspar behind a unit of Gangers really let me spread out instead of worrying about Grospars 8 inch command.
Surefoot and Dirge with Tough from Rockbottom got the Sea Dogs up to some really solid Defenses.
Later game feating is better than early game feating unless you see Gorten/Kreuger/Rhan/etc.
Still trying to figure out a good set of Reinforcements. I mean Nyss were the go too because they are all around good but I may go to something more like Rociante just to have that heavy jack prescence.
-
Played a version of this over the weekend at the first qualifier for the Carolina Invitational. Couldnt run Gallant because of Alexia so went with Roci instead. List did really well.
-
I thought Money Shot only works on Steelheads??
Tyrant Swabs
Unless you use Rockbottom to cast it :P

I used Rockbottom to cast it. I tried to keep his coins for that and use Rhupert for tough when possible.
There is a lot of doubling up in this list. I found I would run Grogspar with the Gangers on one flank and throw Surefoot on Alexia 2 and have her run with the Sea Dog crew on the other flank. That way I had a huge no knockdown area. I also kept Doc closer to the Sea Dogs because I got a lot more utility out of their guns than anything else.
I had tough everywhere and in SR, if your opponent doesn't have a way to get around tough it's a nice thing to have a ton of no knockdown guys spread all over contesting zones.
Damage output wasn't the best but that's ok. I'll likely change this up some with this list....going to try to fit in Ragman I think.
