Default New player with some new questions :)

Hi all. Uberdark here. After 5 years of 40k I am jumping the boat and trying out some trollbloods. I recently bought the starter set and 10 fennblades. I keep hearing different ideas and builds to work with Madrak, and am honestly at a loss on what to add to this list to make it a fun and viable list. Any thoughts and ideas for a new Hordes player? Thanks again. Uber.

I would definately check out the sticky thread at top first. pMadrak likes infantry so you have a start there with Fennblades. You may want to decide on if you want to "Brick" up or go more open as that will decide what to include

I think it's important to find a caster whose playstyle you like. I'm starting off with Borka, because he's got a lot of flavor and is good at smashing things in a straightforward manner. I'm also thinking of giving Grim Angus and Calandra a whirl; Grim seems to be many people's go-to caster for tournaments and offers a little more control.

I'd say hold off on the Champions for now. Other infantry units may be more flexible. Otherwise, the pMadrak guide in the sticky is great.

If you stick with the Fennblades, their Unit Attachment is a must, as are The Fell Caller Hero and The Chronicler.

The Champions, Their UA and the Hero are also a must.

As for Warbeasts I suggest Mauler and The Bomber first. Of course you'll want Maug eventually.

Do you plan on expanding to a sizable trollbloods force with multiple warlocks or just focusing on pMadrak? Also, do you have a tight budget on this army? This will help me determine the path that you should take when purchasing models.

First....thanks to everyone so far who has helped this is a great fountain of knowledge. AceofShadows: I plan on going all the way up to 200 points if I like the army well enough. So yes I am looking for ways to combine the synergy with madrak and say another warcaster at say, 50 points.

There are a lot of places to start, I'd work on your toolbox based on your preferences. the Battlebox & Madrak like the Mauler's buff, and he is a good heavy to start with.

If you have Fenn Blades already the Fen Blade Officer and Standard are a good idea.

Fel Caller is the closest thing to auto-include Trollbloods have.

If you plan on expanding, I'd say get the champs later. They should be a low priority unit you buy.

    1. Fennblades or Kriels (Whichever you prefer. Both are great, but one will do.)
    2. Dygmies (Work great with most casters. Cheap and awesome.)
    3. Longriders or Nyss Hunters (Depending on which casters you play, one of these options will be great)
    4. Fill out the units you didn't choose in number 1 and 3.

You see, there's alot of disagreement on the champs here on the boards. My reccomendations are above, but feel free to try the champs out if you want.
