Default What does that unit do? queue evil laugh

So my opponent who is fairly new to the game, or at least has just recently gotten back into it after taking like 2 years off, plays Khador and we were testing some tournament lists today. I took eDeneghra for only the second time ever and he had Harchavich. On 2nd turn he had the option to shoot at one of the WSC memebers, Adomonia I believe, and he said nah they haven't really done anything yet and ignored her. So the next turn Deneghra debuffed -2arm on the behemoth that was fighting some bane knights and flung it D6+5" towards the WSC throwing them a project to work on. After the banes were through and he was thrown out o Harks control area he was only arm 17 and had only like 9 boxes left. They quickly reconstructed him into a more efficient seether. My opponent then shrugged off their ability to turn a 13 point heavy into a free 9 point mat 8 jack and went on his merry way and ignored Adomonia again. Next turn my camped Deneghra charged his last jack repeating the same exact combo. I don't own a second seether and I didn't feel like going out to my car to get my HArrower so I just grabbed a Slayer. Now it was my entire army minus like 6 bane thralls, a pistol wraith, and a siren, vs Harkavich and a war dog. I sincerely hopes he understands their full potential. Though I really don't think that he does lol.

Shortened version of the story: eDeneghra flung two khador heavies at the WSC and they got rewired to work for me. This pleases me much.

I do so love the WSC. I once had an opponent ask me what eLich's Feat was at a tournament as I was advancing him up to an unobscured charge lane to his caster. It's moments like that that really make you appreciate life.

And I'll bet if he does, he probably thinks that is their only trick.

Explaining the WSC/Bane Thralls/WWS should be a special exception in the Deathclock format... it takes forever

What does X Do? is the battle cry of the loser in this game.

I'm all for those fun, glorious, evil moments (Withershadow jack factory, Gerlak nom-ing an entire unit and then some), but when your opponent "is fairly new to the game, or at least has just recently gotten back into it", and it's not an tourney setting, I think that's the perfect moment for everyone to be sharing cards before the game starts. Also, I'm a big fan of (when playing with newer people) letting them know what's up. For example, I'm using pAsphyxious today, he's my swiss army knife of a caster, I might spell you, I might melee you...These are the Withershadow, they hit surprisingly hard, have a ranged attack and can make a new jack. I feel, my opponent knowing what's up makes the game a bit more enjoyable for everyone.

    I'm not a fan of Gre33nJ3llo's assertion that "
What does X Do? is the battle cry of the loser in this game.". Everyone has the right to know what anything does, ask for a card (or outside of a tourney), volunteer the info before the game.

That said, in a tourney, all bets are off...

Sorry, just a general observation that most people will fall for whatever tricks unit/feat/solo has if they haven't seen it before. I have no problem handing over cards, explaining rules, though I might not explain how to defeat said unit.

You'll notice that this thread is about exactly that sort of moment. Player running into something they haven't dealt with before, which leads to their doom, right after they say "What does X do?"

I hate to be stupid but i have yet to full understand this trick. I understand you kill something and it gives you the bile but how does this really help? Is the bile then put near gaspy and moved forwards? Sorry to be stupid but i checked all over the forums for this explenation but everyone mentions it without showing how it works. I think i get the just of it but i would love like a diagram or something to make sure i fully get it lol.

Well let me clarify that this player did know what they do. And even after making the first jack did not seem to realize them as a threat. It just takes this mouse a few extra shocks to learn not to take the cheese. But with new players I ALWAYS tell them to at least look at the caster cards. They need to know about feats and spells and abilities.

Awesome thanks Mike i guess it's all about keeping the leader of the unit far enough ahead that you that extra range of movement... interesting.
