I have the classic, and am not a huge fan, so I also am curious for some model side by sides.

Got some images of my 2 units I can show you, 1 new and 1 old.
For reference: the models with white frontarc markers are the new ones, the ones with notches are the old ones.

Personally I prefer the new ones over the old ones. Really glad I sold my other old unit (only basecoated) to a friend who's starting up, so I could get the new ones.

And yes I know, I havent gotten around to basing them yet. I will eventually, I swear!
