Hi all,
Coming at you with another exciting tournament. This time the theme will be Escalation, here is the break down. Each round will be a different point level, round 1-25 pts, round 2-35 pts, round 3-50 pts, round 4-75 pts (2 warcasters/warlocks). If a round 5 is needed then we will randomly determine which pt level is used. The 25pt level is not limited to battlegroup so you can have whatever models in it you want. At 75pts you may again add whatever models you want and are not limited to just adding the 2nd caster's battlegroup. Once you have models in your list you may not get rid of them, example: once you have made your list for 25pts then those models will stay in your army for the rest of the tournament. There will be only one list for this tournament and no reinforcements. There will be no upgrading of casters/locks, so once you have made a selection then you are stuck with it. Also no theme forces will be allowed. If you have any questions then ask.

The second caster/lock is a bit of a surprise. Can 'jacks/beasts change their battlegroup affiliation for the 75 list?

What about timed rounds? I've never played a timed-rounds game, but they seem to be the standard now. Also, will there be scenarios? Basically, is this a standard Steamroller with all the trims, but a few differences as listed?

I think I may try to make it, though a tournament day's worth of games is more games than I have played altogether! What better way to get some experience, right? I checked and I think I have just about exactly enough points for 75 with 2 casters.

Trying to decide faction - Thornfall sounds most straight-forward and fun. Highborn sounds like my cup o' tea as well. Opinions?

both are solid nuriochi, i think i would tip my hat more towards highborn, but then again im cygnar so i know highborn models far more than i do thornfall.

Right right, it's part of why I was leaning towards Highborn - I'm a Cygnar player, too, but have better luck with my Mercs overall. Best of both worlds. Problem is, it's typically troop-heavy with Highborn, esp without a focus-efficient 'caster in my stable - timed turns may lend themselves better to Thornfall.

Ed, go with my pusher advise, Minions. What better way to get a feel for them and then the desire to paint them. Also yes it will be timed turns, standard missions with no reinforcements. Though after playing a 75pt 2 caster game I will say that game will be a relaxed time round, meaning the next point level time up

I'm leaning that way, too. Especially since Minions are mostly in progress paint-wise. And the army is more compact and overall more-direct. Now let's see if I can get some practice games in this week before the event.

Glad to hear this chuck. After playing you saturday i removed a whole unit from my list and added a beast instead. I think it makes the list stronger anyway, and i worked in the bone grinders like you suggested. Need all the time padding I can get since I'm playing so much stuff I don't know. Thanks for kicking my but, I learn more from losing to you than a dozen other games. See ya saturday.

I'm still a newb so sorry about the questions but when you say no battlegroup changing does that mean that a warlock with battlegroup buffs will only be able to affect the beasts under theirs?

No, what I was asking was if you could put a warbeast into a different battlegroup once you hit 75 points and added the second warlock (i.e. giving it to the other warlock).
