    Default pCain 50 pts - thoughts?

    I am currently pulling out some of my lesser used casters and units for a bit of fun and have decided to use the original gunslinger caster.

    Here is what I am thinking of running and am looking for some thoughts.

    pCain +6
    Ol'Rowdy
    Sylys

    Gunmages + UA
    - Defender
    Finn
    min Precursor knights + UA
    Rangers
    full Trenchers + UA

    basically the plan is to use trenchers as first strike (adv deploy (13)+ desperate pace (2)+ deadeye + snipe(4) + assualt (9) + gun (10)= 38inch threat range (hey look, they deploy 10 inches, I can shoot anything on the front line)

    thus hopefully eliminating front line infantry before they can account for themselves.

    this is followed by second turn attrition using remaining trenches + gun mages + rangers and Cain

    thunderbolt (spell) + precursors + rowdy + defender + CRA/Arcane inferno are there for opponent heavy destruction/control

    IF all goes according to plan, then a second or third turn feat should kill anything I've missed

    I understand that stealth is a major counter to this army, however sniping gun mages should alleviate the problem.

    the precursors are also on the table as a living shield to the squishy Cain.


    so, thoughts?

    After playing a game with a mate of mine I have adjusted the list.


    Here it is now:

    A few thoughts about your reserves: firstly I believe that when 'jacks enter the battlefield, they must enter with a supporting WC/JMWC or 'jack marshal (i.e. they can't enter as autonomous 'jacks), and I don't think Taryn de Rossi is a 'jack marshal. I don't have my books on hand to check that though. Also, Chargers need three focus if you want to get the most bang for your buck from them, and as such I would argue that they aren't the best choice to be marshaled.

    I think a Hunter and JMWC might be a better bet. A fully boosted AP shot each turn and an AS, what's not there to like?

    According to the SR pack I have, jacks must either be allocated to an existing battle group OR be marshaled. So the chargers can come in with three focus while being allocated to Cain.

    The hunter/jwc combo is good, however I think it is a better starting module than a reenforcement.
