    Default Show us your Warpwolves!

I just finished painting my trinity, and it occurred to me that all Circle players are going to own at least one Warpwolf (and most of us have at least 3 or 4!). So come on, let's see them!

In true 'you show me yours, I'll show you mine' fashion, mine are posted below. I deliberately chose a quite fleshy tone for the Feral and Stalker, since I wanted to incorporate at least some reference to the fact that they are altered humans, not just lupine beasts.

Yep. Way to set the bar too high, man.

I'll still probably post up pictures later tonight. I have to fish them out of their case.
The forums seem to have one of two responses to new models. (A) "This model is worthless, I'll never use it." or (B) "That model is over powered, it's going to break the game." A few models get both responses, which ends up being really hilarious.
But what's wrong with saying "This model is circumstantially good and it's up to me as a good player to exploit its strengths and minimize its weaknesses"?

Yours are amazing, but I will show mine against it, I only have the Feral painted so far, the Pureblood is undercoated:

    Circle Orboros = 34/87 points painted + 0/3 Warlocks
    Khador = 16/30 +0/1 Warcasters

@ not so feral: looking good, though your camera seems a little too focused on the background, rather than the Warpwolf in the foreground

@ TSpot: I like your work

@ Brandubh: I've always been a fan of your winter Warpwolf, and that Ghetorix conversion is superb! How did you do that? Was it fairly easy to execute?

Yeah, I can't seem to make it not do that, I'm looking at a bodged lightbox at the moment.

Nice! I remember the 'original' zombie Warpwolf from NQ#21 (I think), and that is a really nicely converted replica. I love how visceral the gore looks. How do you get that stringy look?

Mercury: Thank you... D i used glue UHU alleskleber mixed with red color and brown ink... When i saw first time zombie conversion I just love it... So i had to make my own... and it was also my fist "Metal" conversion... I never did so challanging conversion from metal... Maybe painting is not that graet (blood) bud I think it looks good... I hope guys you will like it...

Thanks. It wasn't too bad. My conversion skills are pretty rudimentary. Mostly it's just the stock extreme sculpt. The hands were left off and the model's right arm was repositioned so that it was articulated further back. The axe was chopped up and I filed out the holes for brass rod and sculpted wood. The headdress is on top of a heavily filed extreme head with the leather sculpted back in.

It was my hardest conversion to date. I'm pretty happy with it - but it's not tournament legal. So if you do this, you'll either need to have a puny head or you'll have to know that you can't use it in tourneys.

If anyone wants, I can post WIP pictures.

It is pretty easy in fact. All my models are underpainted (shaded with drybrushing). Such way of painting creates a lot of greyish mess on base lip. So using this random mess I just did with drybrushing different shades of grey, I separate sections with black paint and paint some cracks on (black paint again). Then apply light grey to lower part of the crack to make it look as it would catch the light.

Then just paint the back of the base black and you have it done. Takes about 10min to do single base. Hope I explained it in readable manner.

Here is what I have so far, still got a plastic Pure Blood to put together and paint. Plus the plastic feral in the back can be changed to a stalker, and the metal Feral is just waiting to be stripped and repainted so he matches the rest of them.

So... I think I'm gonna re-steal it. I'm just now finishing up my Wolves, so I'll post pics in a couple days. They're not super-awesome, but I'm proud of em.

I guess I'll throw a few of mine in here as well. I have to say I really prefer the plastic stalker and feral but the metal pureblood is still my preference.

    fresh off the painting station:

I realise I need a new coat of black on the base - the kit is also fully magnetised, but I've painted enough white skin for now that I can't bear the thought of 4 more arms and 2 more heads and hands..

That way it won't ever break, right? That was my hope anyway. I really like the customization options and this seemed like the best combination of cool and sturdy.

in protest to PP's apparent need to wuss our warpwolves out now that weve gone to plastic (we were the only ones to actually get clearly littler in the transition. everyone else got bigger or at least stayed the same) i tend to use beefy goat bodies to remasculinize our warpies! thanks man!

So, after the above commens about my photography, I made one of the milkcarton lightboxes. It seems to work okay.

I thought I'd varnish the model before taking the picture.

Never trust yourself to varnish after 3, 12 hour night shifts. I picked up the White Spray by mistake. Realised after 1 blast, so not too much damage, and actually looks ok in an 'about to warp ghostly' way. The damage is easily repairable.

I have really enjoyed this thread so thanks to everyone for sharing!

I wanted my Circle to look a bit demonic and got some inspiration from the Tanar'ri from AD&D. For this reason, I added claws to my Feral to make it look more like a Glabrezu - a four-armed monstrosity (or, as the locals call it "lobster-dog"). It was my first conversion and the first model I painted after a 10 year hiatus. I had a bit of trouble getting everything into focus at once but hopefully you will get the idea.

My Pureblood was inspired by a spotted hyaena (as I paint the rest of my collection, I am considering a hyaena theme with my Skinwalkers and Wolf Riders). I refer to it as the "howling hyaena" due to the spray. I think my lack of camera skills might have made it look a bit more green than it is in real life, though...

Ends up looking better where you can see his armor, but it's really hard to not use the log as the facing. Imagined the Pureblood 'stepping' through a rotten log to get that spray out.

Didn't know what to do with his fur, so started with some of the same color. Now we call him 'Grandpa Warpwolf' since his hair has gone white.

I need to go back and repaint my Warpwolves know that my paint-fu has gotten stronger. My Feral and Pureblood suffer from being one of my first paint jobs. My Stalker's actually looking pretty good, but still needs some work.
