    Default Grandscrutator Severius

I have played a few games of warmachine and As much as I like battle box kreoss I really like the old man. Eye of menoth is such an amazing spell.

Now I have settled on a caster I would love to develop my skills off of I was wondering if I can get some suggestions as to how to best keep his frail self alive.

There is mostly Khador Heavy in my group. a little bit of cygnar and a few more cryx players. ut Khador is big man on top.

I had a very successful game where I used a redeemer with Eye of menoth and a vassal of judgement (extra attack is amazing). I was thinking about getting a second redeemer and a second choir. Put the old man in teh back with both those jacks blasting folks to crap. Just makes me smile a bit.

But I am open to any suggestions.

Could you tell us how many points and what your current list is? Also, are you restricted to certain models?

you should really not get 2nd unit of choir because their really no point unless you find your meta killing them in game faster then you want but all you have to do is hide them better. also redeemers are good but i would try some heavy shooting jack before getting another redeemer.

That works great if your Khador player is running the Winterguard "Death Star" and has a lot of high def/low armor infantry. If he decides to throw a heavy armor force at you though, your force will likely crumble.

I would suggest putting some heavy hitters in there as well. Even something as basic as a Crusader would do, but I'm partial to Reckoners and Templars myself. The Vanquisher is also another awesome infantry killer if need be. Also the Avatar of Menoth is awesome all by itself. I would also recommend Blessing of Vengeance to go along with Severius, but it may not be as useful if you don't find yourself casting his spells as much as fueling his 'jacks.

Lastly, you don't really need a second choir until you've gone over 4 or so 'jacks, unless you REALLY need the extra mobility of sending them in opposite directions.

Here is what I played with in my last 35 point game.

Hierarch Severius 6 Redeemer 6 Blessing of Vengeance 7 Reckoner 8 Choir of Menoth (Leader and 3)2 Exemplar Bastions (Leader and 4)8 Knights Exemplar (6)5 Vassal of Menoth2 Covenant of Menoth2 Wrack1

One thing i noticed is that I kind of wished I had a choir with that redeemer. The B o v just decimated cygnar commando squad with ashes to ashes.

But I am looking for a good plan to stay up against the khador side fo things as well. More of an all commers list

Savvy players will spend most of the game trying to keep your BoV from being an arc node, especially when you are playing Cygnar, use that to your advantage. BoV is hard to kill.
In 2013 I have made a pledge to take time for myself and paint an hour every day. It takes me about 2 hours to paint a basic troopers so I made a point system to keep track of my goal. 2pts small base, 4 pts med base, 6 pts large base and bonus points for special figs. You should make your own pledge. Do 90 pts in 90 days, or even 30 points in 30 days. You can look here to see how I am doing, More flames and bones here!

I did notice the sick amount of fire that thing drew. And the cygnar player forgot all about the rekoneer until it destroyed the hammer smith I sent it after.

You might be surprised at what is a valid target for A2A with the BoV. Forge Guard in B2B? Sure, you only need 6s to kill. Demo Corps? You have about a 50/50 chance of killing an uninjured Demo Corps member with boosted damage. Lesser Warbeasts? Boost damage and they will be hurting. Boostable POW 13s are really strong.

The only downside is that it's also a dicey spell. Roll a 1 on the extra hits and you've just wasted focus.

I think that would be worth a gamble. 1 focus for a d6. yeah you could roll a 1 but you could also roll a 6. That makes me smile. Would the Vigilant be something to include in his list. Gurd up against blasts and such. I just finished painting one and I was thinking about including him.

Best way to keep pSeve is to keep it 2" closer your own table-egde than it was when he died!

There is no need to bring Seve close to enemy lines, as you can arc all spells, and 16" Eye of menoth is still goint to have range from most of your models. Gorman, covenant, vigilant, cover, forest, tfg, there are plenty of ways to keep that old man alive.
