    Default Age of the Harbinger

Hi there, I'm trying to figure this out, and I can't seem to find it in the fluff. How old is the Harbinger?

    Thanks!

Ah, OK, cool. I had heard somewhere that she was 14, and I was like, "Really? PP shows skin on a 14 year-old?" Good to hear that's not the case.

I believe when the model came out she was 14... so the model is of the 14 year old harby, while in storyline time she is 20....

I'm not one of those super technical fluff bunnies, but I thought when she first appeared she was only 14, but she didn't meet up with Voyle and start smacking down fools on the battlefield till she was a little closer to "of age". Could be completely off base with that though.

According to the previously mentioned insider - 15 when first mentioned (at the time of Skorne's first invasion), 16 when Khador invaded Llael, 18 at the second Thornwood war.

She's more like 22, now, actually. Or at least I believe she was 22 when Doug posted that list of current character ages. I think it's been at least a year in the lore since then, though, so she could be 23 now.

And yeah, she was first discovered at 14, but didn't become an actual warcaster until later. Not sure exactly how long it was, though. I figured she was in the 18-19 range based on her mini. She doesn't exactly have a 14-year-old body (and I'm not just talking obvious assets. Her height and the proportions of her head and legs, and stuff).

Having the in-game time more or less line up with real time is going to be a problem in a few years when Severius starts creeping up on 100.

In many settings wizards can live for supernaturally long lifespans, and I don't recall any Heirarch ever dying to old age. Severius could have a long time still before age starts really effecting him.

Sevvy is held together by the will of Menoth. IF he ever dies, and I am not sure he ever will, his ashes will be put in a character jack and generate their own focus. It will make the Avatar look like a chicken.

Sevvy 3 could be a character Vessel I guess. Good luck protecting a huge base caster though.

Anyone remember when that "character age" insider was? I'm really curious to see that.

Also by the fluff in the Forces book you can deduce that she is AT LEAST of age in current fluff. Considering Harby was "discovered" in 603 and was said to have been a "teenager" (anywhere between 13 and 19) and current fluff is year 608 (5 years later) making here between 18 and 24 years of age. *Flexes his math muscles*

LOL. I had to laugh at that, too. Is this 18th century Puritan New England?

I was not aware that the Amish played Warmachine. The name Hansel does fit, although Portland, Oregon does not.

Ask Karchev if age is much of a problem for warcasters with enough strength of will.

Somehow I don't think the Protectorate is going to be hooking Sevvy up to a warjack anytime soon.

I wonder if the Amish would be against warmachine. Technically you don't require any technology to play it. Though I wonder if the concepts would be offensive...

    also found that age chart!
(scroll down a bit to find it)
    http://privateerpress.com/community/...10-doug-seacat

Harby is apparently 20, keeping her as the youngest character in the game at this time.

Amon is also pretty darned young, I'm pretty sure most of our warcasters are between 40 and 60 otherwise. Rhoven is in his 60s.

Sevetar must happen! I want Ashes to Ashes and hex-blast on a warjacaster!

I think "Gaze of Menoth" would become something more along the lines of "Command of Menoth"
*Action: all models within 10" of this model become friendly faction models until end of the game.

Any idea how old the High Reclaimer / ToM is? Does the time that he was 'gone' and came 'back' count to his age?

His past is pretty murky, if you were a master sleuth and were really lucky you might be able to find his birthplace and someone who remembers when he was born, but record keeping in the Protectorate isn't very good and you would really just have to stumble across someone who recognized him at some point and knows his birth name. Given that most people probably try to avoid looking him in the eye and make themselves scarce when he's in town, I wouldn't expect this to happen.

It's entirely possible that Menoth picks his Reclaimers from the unloved and forgotten members of society. It's a forever alone type of job. You can't even strike up a conversation at the local pub after work. They're really grimdark characters. At best maybe they all get some sort of mental link with one another so they have someone to talk to besides their authoritarian God. Menoth probably doesn't like knock-knock jokes. That's some job description: you get to be a hitman for God, but you get a permanent party line with all of the other hitman and this one hot floating chick.

Good job finding the link Alzer ! Quite an interesting piece of data. And writing !
Privateer Press means no disrespect and makes no aspersions on the characters of entities shown with smaller relative portions of the athanc compared to others. The real quality of an athanc is what you do with its blighted energies not raw mass.
Gotta say this had me chuckling.

It's more the boobs in the art. And Wulfy, imaginary war in a fictional land is one thing, but pedo-bait is another entirely. Anyway, I digress. This isn't the place to discuss this. I'm not a puritan, I'm just against, y'know, the sexual exploitation of children. Which PP isn't doing, in any case.

Thanks for that chart, too. Looks like she was 15 when she was discovered in the fiction (not sure what age she was when the model first came out), and is 20 in the present fiction.

The age of consent in half the US is 16, so it is not much of a reach. Anyone who thinks harby looks like a child, did not paint her well enough.

Honestly if anything I'm more upset that a game that has a pretty cool aesthetic as a whole still is stuck with a ton of the same lame-*** character design decisions on female characters that plague so much of nerd media.

The Harbingers inextricable need to not wear pants while floating in the air is far from the worst of it.

What's up with the weird-*** armor bikinis the daughters of the flame wear? It does nothing to protect their vital internal organs, all it does is call attention to their breasts.

Does the creator mandate all women wear heels into battle? Feora and Thyra seem to think so.

Really though Menoth is hardly the biggest offender. Models like Skarre really make me roll my eyes, and don't get me started on the Legion lineup...

I remember throwing a little party when she turned 21... kind of sad now that I think about it.

Jesus Christ, it's good to hear someone else say that! I thought I was a lone wolf on warming forums. It would be interesting to see women modeled as, um, people, and not fetish objects in our wargames.

Good luck with that. If anything more modern games seem to be getting worse in this regard, especially the ones out of Europe.

Just go over to the front page of Cool Mini or Not and count how many models have their boobs hanging out. Warmachine is relatively conservative as far as wargames go.

Even if you play something like Battletech[1], you can't avoid the cheesecake in the rulebook.

[1] There probably would be fem-bots in Battletech if the artists were better, but given how much trouble they had keeping their lines even and still published mechs that were totally screwed up or unforgivably sloppy, I think adding boobs and hips would have been beyond their capabilities. Caveat: I got out when FASA went under, so they may have picked up some better artists since then.

This thread has gone from, I have a question, to, I am a crazy person to, this is pretty silly. I play this game for the art as well as the game mechanics. You start putting sisters in outfits where you cannot tell they are sisters it will defeat the whole purpose. It is a Fantasy game guys.

I am calling for less armor and more sex. The gore level is too high for me, lets replace it with more eye candy.
