So Blindwater and Thornfall are separate factions for League purposes, but we need to field five painted casters to get the hobby patch? I foresee a lot of Merc and Skorne players having trouble finding partners for their team games...

Think of Thornfall and Blindwater like Searforge and Highborn. They only function to limit what your army composition is. Just like how you can bring a Durgen list and a Shae list in tournament setting, you can bring a Carver list and a Calaban list as they are still functionally in the same faction, their lists are just mutually exclusive.
Edit: I may have misread that. If the league rules specifically state they are separate factions, then yeah, you're boned.
Edit as well: ah, right, they were separate in Olgunholt too. So five painted casters is not just difficult, it's impossible?

Olgunholt was fun, except for the complete and utter lack of participating Skorne players that kept me from getting my Alliance badge. But it seems like the requirements for some of the badges get more and more oppressive with each league.

Something easy to overlook is that Pigs get the thrullg as well.
Keep in mind that minions share the League checklist card for extra bonuses. Your reading way to much into whats on the league models themselves. Remember our faction is divided into two extremely unique halves. A bit of segregation is required as thematicly they are so different.
If you look at the cards available to mercs its separated into contracts. Doesn't change the fact that mercs and minions as a whole are factions not the individual pacts/contracts.

Except there are two different alliance listings for pigs and gators. I know our local PG(s) are requiring we register as Blindwater or Thornfall, not as "Minions"
If that really is the case then thats just friggin absurd![]()
Perhaps if your local league organizer is a PG you could inquire for us? I'm afraid I cannot as our local PGs aren't running this league as far as I'm aware.
Man, I totally want to play in a League now, if just for the Farrow Gorax.
Primal on a War Hog... two great tastes.
The good news for Gator players is that we can actually use the paingiver taskmaster that makes Gators rude in Skorne we can now use in blindwater!
Cobine that with a Gorax....yeah. So playing Blindwater this league.
I'm lucky. My PG doesn't mind me swapping factions mid-league, and we don't keep track of battlegrounds, so the 5 caster thing shouldn't be too difficult.
On the plus side, oh my Krossk I love the Skorne league model! Free upkeeps with our fury starved warlocks, re-rolls for spells and giving the Posse tough or +2 STR is so lovely. Definitely finding a way to field her in as many lists as I can. The thrullg, I'm not so impressed with, mostly because I take him as a way to break upkeeps. Oh well.
The cycle we go through with every release:
1st stage - reveal - Wow! Look at the new toys.
2nd stage - spoilers - Booo! They're not as awesome as I imagined!
3rd stage - actual play - Okay, this thing's (usually) not awful.
Yeah, honestly this is the first league I may ever buy a model to convert and use for the league. That Skorne solo is awesome and I would love to have it as a permanent addition to Blindwater.
I am hoping to borrow Carver and a Warpig to go with Rorch & Brine and my Circle Gorax for a 15pt mangled metal. With that and the same list with Arkadius, I'll be able to get 5 casters.Otherwise I'd be stuck with my 3 Gators.

I'd say time to find a more fun store. It's up to the organizers, so they're just being ******y about it. I'm our only minion player and I have both, so our many main factions would be out badges for no good reason if our organizer chose to do it that way. Also, if I couldn't get my 'arts and crafts' badge simply because the number of casters don't exist, I'd try to strike a deal with them. Paint more heavies or something. In the end, this is only for fun, definitely not for profit. If your shop is hindering the fun, then look elsewhere.Except there are two different alliance listings for pigs and gators. I've been spouting this on the rules and main forums about if your're going to separate Thornfall and Blindwater then make sure you give them their own beast upgrades and League unit. The threads typically have gotten no-where with little or no replies from any official source. This is very upsetting to me and I'll be putting some questions to the P.P. staff at Lock and Load. I understand that there isn't the same number of factions in each game system but to nerf the most limited "Faction" by splitting it in two is just plain RUDE!! It would of been nice if they had just given both the Blindwater and Thornfall two Warbeast upgrades each.
Also note that local organizers can change the rules to make them work best for all players involved. In our last league we had 4 circle players and myself playing Thornfall. Until late the first day those 4 circle players had no one to ally with an I never had an ally. Our organizer changed it so you could ally with anyone just to allow all players to get the ribbons.
In the end I claimed the WTA medal with my Thornfall!!
