Default Working on Blood, Sweat, and Tiers List for Gencon 35 Points

Tournament is 35 points, tier 1 required. All of circles options seem lackluster to me so I looked at mercs. I'm not sure what theme forces are good in mercs, other than shae's so I've built the following:
    Shae
    -Nomad
    4 Commodore
    4 Aiyana & Holt
    6 Press Gangers
    11 Sea Dog Crew
    -Walls+Rifleman
    5 Sea Dog Crew
    1 Bosun
    1 Doc
    1 Hawk
    1 Rockbottom
    1 Meg

Is meg worth having in the list over a rifleman? I don't have experience with mercs, to me I would think not but its nice to have 1 point solos to go control zones.

What are your thoughts on the list? What are other good merc theme forces? (Tier 1 only, just did Tier 3 shae because...well...why wouldn't you?)

shae list pretty much writes itself. Meg is good for marshalling and is better with more jacks, but for 1 pt stall is a pretty good effect on her weapon, surely better than a rifleman.
personally, I prefer the freebooter to the nomad, but it's really up to your playing style

another easy list is Ashylinn. something on this line:

    Ashlynn d'Elyse6
    Freebooter6
Arcane Tempest Gun Mages (Leader and 5 Grunts)6
    Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer2
    Mule8
Captain Sam MacHorne & the Devil Dogs (Sam and 9 Grunts)75
Precursor Knights (Leader and 9 Grunts)85
    Precursor Knight Officer & Standard2
    Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist2

I like Dirty Meg. I don't think a single Rifleman can compare to her. She can repair your jacks and she has a pretty decent gun with a good special ability (Stall).

I like the MacBain theme list, you get a lot of cool units for cheaper and can include a weird variety of solos in it. It's almost like a combination of highborn and four star.

    I usually run:

    Contract/Theme
    Soldiers of Fortune Tier 1
    Model/Unit Pts
    Drake MacBain (6)
    >Nomad 6
    >Talon 4
    Taryn 2
    Rutger 2
    >Vanguard 5
    Croe's Cutthroats (6) 6
Sam MacHorne & the Devil Dogs (10) 6
    >Buccaneer 3
    Dannon Blythe and Bull 3
    Kell Bailoch 2
    Alten Ashley 2
    35

There's a lot of room for modification in this list. I rarely go above tier 1, but higher tiers aren't bad...just a bit scattershot.
Tier 4 at 35 could look something like this:

    Contract/Theme
    Soldiers of Fortune Tier 4
    Model/Unit Pts
    Drake MacBain (6)
    >Nomad 6
    >Nomad 6
    Steelhead Cavalry (5) 10
    Steelhead Halbrediers (6) 4
    Steelhead Halbrediers (6) 4
    Dannon Blythe and Bull 3
    Gorman diWulf 2
    Rhupert Carvolo 2
    Alten Ashley 2
    Kell Bailoch 2
    35

If you don't mind going 1 point short, you can replace a solo and Blythe & Bull with Stannis.

I have played that list, minus the nomad and second min sea dog unit, and with a rifleman, Mariner, and Buccaneer. Fast and effective and Tier 3.

Drop your riflemen and 2nd unit of dogs, take a nomad, 2nd list either gorton or damiano. That is for the pastry, ask no more.

Haha. I traded those out last night. I'm debating having that unit go to min seadogs and adding 3 riflemen. Wasn't sure if 3 rifles is better than 4 seadogs. Thanks for the suggestion on the second list, but it's a 1 lister.

I'd just leave it a max unit, the cra's are nice in bigger games to mess with the enemy early, but they aren't really something i'd lose pirates over.
