Question New to the Circle! Advice please.

    Hey there,

Just getting back into the game after a couple years... I have a pretty decent sized Cryx army, but my buddy and I decided to pick up some Hordes to play. He got the Trollbloods a while ago, and at first the Legion caught my eye, since I am a Cryx player.. =P But I decided, if I wanted to play the Cryx style play, I'll just play the Cryx! SOOOO I went with the Circle. I like the buffs, speed, pretty decent melee and the wolf look is pretty BA.

I read through some of the 'new to the circle start here' post and picked up the warpack, shifting stones, blackclad and Moshar (for another lock). Are there any other 'NEED NOW' guys that would be beneficial? We are going to be starting out doing a bunch of 15pt battles to get the game back in our heads and to learn the new rules.

So I would just like some advice and strategies vs trollbloods and some opinions on who I should get next.

Thanks! I appreciate the comments in advanced! (being they are good, or bad!

Circle and Cryx are actually (in my mind at least) far more similar than Legion and Cryx. Both rely on speed and overwhelming amounts of offense to get the job done, and both have a great array of spells (especially offensive spells) which they use prodigiously to kill the enemy more directly than many other factions do. Cryx has a lot of "free focus" through 'jacks that generate their own, skarlocks to cast spells for them, and solos that can hand out focus to 'jacks, and Circle does the same thing through Geomancy to cast spells and several different models who can bleed fury off of warbeasts so their overboosting has less of an impact on overall fury management (plus several casters who have some way to make their beasts run, charge, or perform power attacks for free, giving the equivalent of a free fury each turn).

But... since you've already invested money... I'll just answer your questions

Our lights are primarily Utility beasts. You're definitely going to want a Gorax, since you already have three fluffy beasts from the battle box. From there, I'd expand your warbeasts a bit. Circle doesn't have much in the way of anti-armor Infantry (that could just be the Menite in me talking, though... I don't think anyone has much anti-armor infantry compared to Menoth), so our beasts do a lot of the heavy lifting. A Warpwolf Stalker and a Pureblood Warpwolf should probably be your next investments. Unit-wise, you've already got one unit of Shifting Stones, but I use two in a lot of my lists, so that's something to consider (as is their Unit Attachment). Bloodtrackers are one of our best units for anti-armor, and Tharn are one of our best anti-infantry units (but are also pretty expensive money-wise). If you get a hundred bucks to throw at something, a unit of Tharn Wolfriders is always a good call... they're probably one of the most versatile cavalry units in the game.

That's really all I can think of off the top of my head for starting out. I've doubled or tripled up on all of the Warbeasts at this point, and am working on doubling up on most of the units now as well.
It's not a question of win or lose, it's a question of whether or not you want to have friends afterwards.
