my first game with trolls

first game using trolls tonight with grim angus vs absolonia @ 50 points
by my turn three there is a huge flying beast in grims face and luckily I kept two transfers.
one hit does 20 damage which i transfer to my impaler nearby.


Absalonia has masses of infantry and three walls between me and her so mellee is out of the question and she must go down this turn or grim is dead.

I have only four ranged opions.
sluggers
scattergunners
impaler with loads of damage
grim himself

My turn three and I have to use my sluggers activaton pre feat to screen grim so he can walk into the centre of the board and feat without a free strike.

He manages to get absalonia with marked for death and casts cross country on himself so he can ignore the wall shes hiding behind as true sight isnt going to cut it.
He Hits her with his snare gun and knocks her down.
My sluggers are out of it as I had to use thier activation to free up grim
My scatter gunners move in any spray the bejesus out of her leaving her on 4 health.

All I have left is my impaler with two aspects out.
He is also way out of range so I need him to do his animus on himself and even then may be short.

Then a eureka moment.
my earthborn casts his animus on the impaler so he gets the extra 2" move as he is near a forrest.
my mauler casts his animus on the impaler for +3 strength
my lone whelp runs over to be closer to the impaler.

Last chance
the Impaler eats the whelp and gets 1 health to bring his mind back
moves 8 inches and throws unboosted, hitting and needing to roll 2 or more on one dice to kill

Congrats on playing your first game with Trollbloods. It sounds like you had a good time!

A beast can only have one animi on him at a time.

But you can have the same animi on mutliple beasts in your battlegroup during a game.

As Tough said, only one animi at a time. You could have however cast the earthborn's animus first, had the impaler walk 8" eat the whelp (which if you rolled at least 2 on the d3 you could heal both aspects), cast his animus on himself (overwriting the earthborn) and then thrown the spear. You would have to miss out on the mauler's animus.

And the maulers animus is not really needed if I am getting an extra dice for damage. Or at least not losing a dice from the aspect being out.
Also I think I gypped the impaler out fury as I was assuming he had three aspects out. Grim healing him one to get spirit back and then eating a whelp to get another. That woudl leave the impaler still on zero fury so I could have boosted either the hit or damage on my critical last spear throw.

I was getting confused with so many means of healing troll beasts.

He already has True Sight and Pathfinder, the only use of Cross Country on Grim would be to ignore forests and cover. You don't need it all that often on him.
