Default Battle Report: Cryx vs Khador 15pt

Ok here is my second battle report. I am playing Cryx and my buddy is playing Khador. Still kind of learning the game and the rules but I had a lot of fun smashing things with my Slayer (He killed 4 units)... Let me know what you guys think about the tactics. Also if we missed some sort of rule or tactic. We have played 2 games and so far I have dominated with Cryx and he has failed to kill a single jack...

Good report. Few things to keep in mind for next time though -

Deneghras feat (and indeed MOST feats) affect the CONTROL area, not COMMAND range, so it's everything within 16", not 8".

You seem to be confused with special attacks and further attacks (you mentioned combo'ing the koldun lord after making regular attacks). If you choose to make a special attack, you trade off all your INITIAL attacks, meaning you EITHER hit with each fist and the tusks OR make a combo strike. Once you have done either of these things you can proceed to buy further normal attacks i.e. claw attacks, but you may not purchase another combo strike.

You also upkept parasite on a jack but cast it another jack before taking advantage of it, so think ahead and save your focus!

Finally, even if something has really low defence, you do not automatically hit it i.e. slayers MAT 7 against enemy jack DEF 8. Double 1's will still miss. The only time you automatically hit is if the target is knocked down and you're hitting it in melee.

Good luck with your next battle report, hopefully your opponant will give you a harder time

Ahh I thought the control range and command range were the same thing!!! Good to know for the future.

Also I was only using the combo strike and then rolling the regular attacks... When we went back and looked at the rules it did not appear that using the special attack would make it so that I could not also use the regular attacks. Maybe I misread something though... Time for more reading.

Also I am guessing there is a special rule that says snake eyes always misses? Was just going off the base formula for all the rolls.

Re-read the rules a bit and found what you are talking about! Thanks!

About the parasite, as its an upkeep spell, you may only have one copy of it in play at a time. When you cast it on a target, the original spell is replaced.

Having it on one target at the beginning of your turn (must pay its upkeep of one focus to keep it active), taking advantage of the spell, then activating your caster and casting it on another target, to take advantage of it a second time, is called hot swapping. But you must get your order of operations correct.

Ahh, I think when we read the section on that we read it as only being able to have the upkeep spell in play once on a model. So basically I could not put 2 parasites on the same model and reduce the armor by 6.

    Ahh the learning process
