Thread: pKreuger 35pts

    Default pKreuger 35pts

    Im going to tournament in a few days and am taking pKrueger. Im having trouble deciding between either the unit of Gators or a unit of Druids with UA. The basic list has done me well and handles most competitive builds well, the choice of unit alters how it all come together slightly and Im leaning towards the Gators. They are good to start trades and with lightning tendrils slaughter large units of infantry. So what say you all? Gators or Druids?

    Krueger the Stormwrath (*5pts)
    * Gorax (4pts)
    * Feral Warpwolf (9pts)
    * Warpwolf Stalker (10pts)
    Shifting Stones (2pts)
    * Stone keeper (1pts)
    Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew (Leader and 1 Grunt) (1pts)
    Druid Wilder (2pts)
    Gallows Grove (1pts)
    Gallows Grove (1pts)

    and either:
    Gatormen Posse (Leader and 4 Grunts) (9pts)
    or
    Druids with UA (9pts)

    Personally i would go Gators.

    Then i don t think you need the Stalker and i don t think you need the keeper with pKrueger (sometimes you need to bounce chain lightning of a stone and it can be hard to do if its stealthy).

    Think of swapping the Stalker for a Warden (extra chain lightning or cycle tendrils), Pureblood (spray and blessed) or even a second Feral.
    The with the two points get a blackclad (i like to have at least one spray in every list) but more importantly you can bounce lightning off him too.

    Thanks for the reply Null_Sheen.

    Re: the stalker/warden. I've found with two GG at 35 points pKrueger can handle all but the most extreme forms of infantry. The Stalker is there both to have redundancy with my main heavy hitter and to and to solve the problems of heavy infantry.

    Re: the stone keeper: I do understand what your saying about the stone keeper though and have though to swap it, but for what? A feralgeist?
    I don't need the stones to bounce lightning. When I need to bounce lightning I've been using a gator with tendrils (or a few times the feral with tendrils).

    Re: the blackclad: he was in the original list but swapped for the wilder as he did not consistently perform but I found I was casting either or both primal and lightning strike every turn except the first. I'd still the the blackclad but I think @ 35pts he just misses out.

    ok then its a simple choice on if you want to have some more heavy hitters and some thing tough to kill or do you want some extra control.

    This is pretty much it. Board control vs Attrition. Both work well. I think it depends on your Meta, Druids with their counter magic are great vs Cryx, gator men allow you to munch infantry that much easier + contest better than druids.

    If you go druids, I'd drop the swamp gobbers and the keeper and add a second unit of stones.

    ps. I also love the feral/stalker combo with pKruger - lightning strike on a warp-speed tendriled feral is gold.

    I like the second unit of stones. I hadn't thought of that. One question though, why would you recommend them with the druids but not the gators?

    Will play test the second unit of stones with the gators today.

    Its more about using the remaining points, you don't need the gobbers with the druids, you already have loads of cloud creation, so its worth trying to use that point more effectively. A feralgeist isn't a bad option here for steamroller as the list lacks bodies to claim flags (but is very good at clearing areas). Alternatively, dropping the stone keeper for more stones works well too.

    The other option would be to take a woldwarden for geomancy fun, and a beast heavy army that can take down infantry and is immune to infantry clearence itself, but is really low on models. Eitherway, all the options are completely viable.

    I played the two units of stones and gators they worked well. I think I'll play a few more games with them. Thanks for the suggestions.

    personally i would take bloodweavers, as with lightning tendrils u can do alot of dmg too units and warbeasts alike. an also do completely agree u need a warden or better yet if u can fit it in megalith, since geomancy with krueger is awesome.
