Compiling all the References within Minions

Seeking help with finding references and easter eggs within the Minions write-ups and names.
I am only a Farrow player for now, but lets try to get in Blindwater too if you know any.

Farrow - to give birth to a litter of pigs

Overall there are some definite similarities between farrow and the orcs from the Mary Gentle's novel Grunts.
I'm going to go and re-read this book and get back to the thread.

Lord Carver:
Name - Field Marshal The Lord Carver of Britain
Hand of God - Reference to Black Sabbath - War Pigs lyrics "No more war pigs of the power, hand of god has struck the hour."
Quagmire - "A tactical defense made when defending a territory close to a river. Defenders would dig channels for the river to run in & turn the land into a quagmire" - wiki
Batten down the Hatches - old nautical term to secure the wooden battens, prepare for disaster
Hand of God = H.O.G. (TheLoki)
Golden Horde = Mongolian Empire

Dr. Arkadius
Name can mean paradise or pastoral...hardly seems to fit
Any similarities between him and Fabius Bile are of course a complete coincidence (nudge nudge wink wink) as they both build off the classics and greats Dr. Frankenstein and Dr. Moreau, Dr. Arcane (c-mac), Howard West (Marth)


Sturm und Drang
German - Storm and Drive/Urge/Stress, artistic movement and style

Slaughterhousers
Named after one of the gangs of New York, 1850's

Rorsh and Brine
Pigpen - possible reference to Charlie Brown character (makes a mess)
Souie - a Cheer, Woo Pig Souie!" for the University Razorback football team, pig call (satrywyld)

Razorback Crew
Name - common term for american/austrailian boars
- 1984 Australian horror film
- the football team

Road Hog
Full Boar - phrase from full cylinder (engine) or full barrel (guns) for max power

Brigands
Hog Wild - name of a 1980s motorcycle gang movie and a song by Hank Williams, not sure if either are the references or just the straight pun
Pig Iron = also a type of crude iron (gaminguy)

Targ
Star Trek - Klingons kept domesticated Targs as pets, Boar-like, Worf had one, Molly O'Brien had a stuffed toy one


Barnabas
Name - likely a reference to the apostle Barnabas
Black Tide - American heavy metal band (?) and refers to a massive oil spill

Calaban
Name - A Jamaican word for a trap for birds and animals
Bad Religion - 1980s Punk Rock band, Godsmack song (Draxos)
Death Harvest - possible reference to a book by Christopher Doty about two riverboats crashing and mass drowning

Wrastler
Name = a WWF pronunciation (gaminguy)

I suspect there are many more I am missing

I agree... I totally get a Doc Arcane thing from Arkadius. Of course he undoubtedly based on Frankenstein.

Doc arcane? really? I don't foresee Arkadius fusing bodies with a Succubus from hell and ending up pregnant like arcane. But thats just me.

Well, to me, Dr. Arkadius was the Iron Kingdoms very own Howard West. That's at least what my FLGS Clerk suggested.

Couple minor notes in the Rorsh & Brine department... "Souie" is traditionally how a pig farmer calls his livestock, much the way you might say "Here boy/girl" to call a dog, or "I'm allergic to cats" to call a cat. This would be where the team gets its cheer from as well. As for pigpens being a mess... go watch the opening of Wizard of Oz, or check out any info on pig farming. The real things are messy enough without needing a fictional character to justify a reference.

Not exactly an easter egg, but Pig Iron is the term for otherwise unprocessed iron extracted from ore and shaped into blocks for easy transport.

Also, "Wrastler" was coined to differentiate the scripted matches of the early WWF from more traditional wrestling, being more show than substance. The Wrastler is flashy, but it doesn't acually hit that hard.

The fact that Arkadius' name can mean paradise or pastoral actually fits perfectly to his theme, since he is literally preaching for the Farrow people to reach a new level of existence through his methods.

I remembered another regarding both Arkadius and Sturm and Drang.

Dr. White performed a number of head and brain transplants through the 70's on monkeys. His work has (indirectly) following up on the work by Dr. Demikhov who transplanted dog heads'.

Dr. White what proficient enough that he was certain he could replace or add heads to human nearly 30 years ago but never received ethics approval.
His actual goal was to move parapalegic heads to new donor bodies, thus extending their lifespan as their bodies suffer adverse affects from the immobility, and although the transplant would not give them the ability to move, nor would it have reduced their quality of life.
Dr. White was actually a devout Catholic and went on to be an advisor to the Vatican's Pontifical for Life regarding the location of a soul within a body (obviously he favoured the head).

Head transplants has clear connection to S&D, which would make Dr. White/Arkadius. His connection with the Vatican and Arkadius=Paradise seems a pretty good link to possibly be a credible reference.
