Default Bloody Bradigan - Painting & Tactics

Bloody Bradigan is one mean dude.

    Getting some paint on him

    On the Table

Bloody Bradigan is a beautiful model and was really fun to paint. Though I find skin quite challenging to paint typically, he was a dream because of the rippling muscles. To paint him, I used a mix of the P3 skin tones, starting with dark and gradually getting lighter. To do his tattoos I mixed some skin tone in with blue and then used a very thin brush.

Putting Bloody Bradigan in your army is a great choice when you expect to face an infantry/solo heavy army. He's pretty one dimensional, which is great when you want something that will excel at pummeling the opposition. For 2 points he will provide your army with a hard hitting beat stick that can take out models in base to base. It's a bit strange that he has the gang fighter ability as it is tricky to get him into a position where he won't use berserk to kill his own dudes off. He is tough to take down, especially when Doc Killingsworth is around, letting him pass tough rolls 50% of the time. PLUS, stumbling drunk means he can't get knocked down! So, as long as he passes tough rolls, he stays up, keeping his actions, which is fantastic.

Unfortunately I can't put him in Shae's tier list. Dang.

Yeah for Bloody Bradigan. Unfortunately he has been declared least likely model to show up in a Merc's army several times on this forum, and he probably is for most metas. Given that, even with Doc Killingsworth around, he is going to fail at least 50% of his tough rolls, most players will pass him over for a more fancy solo, or will simply spend his 2 points towards maxing out some infantry grunts.

I'll admit, part of my reason for writing about him was because there wasn't much stuff on him in the forums. Yeah, having access to a lineup of Solos that offer serious buffs to Sea Dogs makes him a less likely choice in most lists. But, I have found a use for him in my Montador list and he's done what he came to do, which was kill stuff.

He's the kind of model you want to throw into the fray, with Grogspar nearby so he doesn't get knocked down...

He makes a mean pair with Hawk. I've had the two of them hold entire flanks successfully, even in a not really piratey list.

The problem with Bradigan is that he works well while fighting with a friendly faction model, but then could end up killing that friendly faction model. Plus, Hawk is just leagues ahead of him in terms of usefulness. She has similar attacks and defenses, but can do a lot more than he can. I suppose if you're already fielding her, you can pop him in, but that depends on if you're running higher point games.

I generally only use Bradigan with MacBaine. But he's fun there. Having an auto-tough model with inherent immunity to knockdown is some solid synergy.

I keep wanting to use him with other 'casters but he just doesn't quite cut it for 2pts most of the time.

+1 with MacBain he gets some games. Let's face it 2 point solo is something that Mercs have a ton of it is always a hard job choosing which to take. Bradigan hits hard but does not have great surivalbility. The main thing in is favour is he is fun.

I hope to get him in a game with Constance soon. I wonder how well he'll do being able to boost damage, and possibly survive on her feat turn.

I will almost always run Bradigan with my Pirates.

I run him, Press Gangers, Doc and the Bosun as a road block and a 2nd wave assassination attempt (1st wave being Hawk-Missile). Half of the time, they are too concerned with Hawk and the Commodore to even notice that Bradigan is walking behind the Press Gangers. Once Hawk has died, failed to kill the caster, or Bradigan is in charge range, cast Storm Rager on Bradigan and have fun. If Hawk hasn't managed to kill him, Bradigan can usually finish the job.

Of course, it only works so many times before they catch on.

Is it even worth choosing Talion Charter over A Pirate's Life to bring along Bradigan? If you're running the full Sea Dog block, you'd be saving up to 6pts on your solos in tier.

I don't play Talion so I can bring Bradigan, I play Talion to bring MacNaile. I just include Bradigan because he is fun to field. I don't care if it is worth it or not, I find it more enjoyable.

Besides, if everyone plays Pirates the exact same way, where is the fun in that?
