    Default Slow Forum Day?

So where is everyone today? I am used to logging on at work and reading the new threads for about an hour and to my surprise there was only one new thread.

SO, I guess I'll ask about what would you consider as anti-cryx/legions models that are worth running in a list that is designed to kill legion and/or cryx?

Yeah has been kinda slow today. I check back every few hours when I've got a couple of minuets. ;p

I like Pyre for Legion. Fire immunity is cool when so many of their beasties can breathe fire all over us.

Cryx I have no !$&@* clue. They're so good. ;p
    Trolls win ratio of 42%

    /agree about the Pyre Troll.

The problem about trying to make lists against an entire faction is that there is a lot of variability between lists in Cryx and Legion. A One-Size Fits All approach will not have very good matchups against all the lists that those factions can bring.

Against Cryx I like Jarl and eDoomy vs Cryx because of the amount of solos and stealth in the army. Magic Bullet and Primal Shock would help to thin out some pesky models. I also think Grim would be awesome with an Impaler's animus. Likewise, 2 Bombers and 2 Impalers could be fun since the AOE is big and the damage is pretty sweet on the Bombers. Even with stealth, the blasts could potentially take out a few models per shot (4 shots per turn in this case) except against Satyxis things.

Hmm, yeah I'd probably go Grim, 2 Bombers, 1 Imapler, and whatever else you want.

Against Legion..... I just wouldn't be able to come up with a list to counter everything they have. It's all so different! Pyres for sure, but who knows what else.

It's typically always slower on Friday/weekends/holidays. Or at least it seems that way.

This, plus half the people in my office are off, and the rest are heading home early to "work from home". It's a ghost town in here with the three day weekend coming up.

My good friend plays Cryx, so more than 50% of the games I play are against Cryx. Strangely Cryx is now the faction I am most comfortable playing against. Especially when it is someone else playing them. The lists he hates the most are my Doomshaper2 and Madrak1. Grim has been giving him fits lately too. For doomshaper the long tramples and goad make it nearly impossible for him to defend his caster. Madrak1 beast brick chains through his troops straight at his caster. Grims ability to snipe solos ignoring stealth has been a godsend. He relies heavily on stealth to minimize.losses from the ranged options I bring. Jarl is nice however bane thralls are his bread and butter, so I usually end up shooting my own guy in the back to MB the ua that gives them tough, and pray he doesnt survive. He has now learned to keep the officer way back. He hates long riders, since they shred his infantry, however pdenny makes them useless, and a huge points sink. As a side note I think doomshaper1s theme list is her undoing. Crippling grasp is awesome against a unit, but when you have 4 three man units, its value goes down, and the game becomes about weathering her feat turn. He almost always takes pistol wraiths to keep my heavies out of the game as long as possible. Tartarus is usually not a problem, however I think that has to do mainly with me spacing my troops well. Just some random thoughts, hope I was able to give people a few ideas.

Thanks for the input so far. I am a Grim Angus fan because of his versatility. I have what I consider a great anti-infantry army with him, which is why I look at him as my anti-cryx army. He has an EBDT, impaler, and slag troll as his BG. Then some runeshapers to add in some awesome AOE fun and to handle some pesky incorporeals. Then I sprinkle on nyss hunters to round out my infantry destruction. Add in some Boomhowler for awesome tarpitting and a Janissa for wall action and I feel that this list works thus far. Haven't tested it against a hardcore bane army yet as my LGS does not have a cryx player like that, but I think it will do ok.

Once the storm troll comes out I feel h emay find a home in this list but I am not sure.

(PS This day is taking to long....)

I like grim vs. legion/cryx/harby (sometimes). It's good to have a bomber (vs infantry or ranged assassination) and an earthborn (anti-heavy) in any of those lists, then a pyre and impaler to help bolster that (useful vs. harby and legion). Then a strong melee tarpit (Fennblades or Kriels, I like Fenns) with something to help buff them (Fellcaller and/or Pendrake). Then a ranged unit (Nyss or Scattergunners+UA) to help back up the Fenns. Then sprinkle the solos you feel like you need.

Grim is my to-go guy as well, vs basically anything.

Last tournament (50pts) Grim+Bomber assassinated eFeora, eHarby and Saeryn. The Saeryn game was something special, bombarded her for 2 turns with the bomber, rolling good, and the Pyre took a nice shot as well. Pygs got to her also.. when she had no transfers left I lost it and charged her with Grim (6 fury).. during her feat.. facepalm until I remembered "lock the target" and pasted her with a double boosted one

The bomber should have got a kill vs Daimon in the 4th game as well during Grims feat (Daimon had no focus camped and some damage already suffered) if my opponent hadn't suffered a convenient memory loss; I placed the Bomber against a terrain piece but the hand was in the way, agreed with my opponent that the base should be counted as in contact with the terrain. My next turn he had forgot this and the Far Striked Bomber was about 0,3" short. Won that on time tough.

I tried running Grim w/o any proper tarpit, running max Long Riders and max Burrowers and in all 4 games I was severely decimated when I won. Felt a bit like the analogy of the water snake in "Gladiator". Worked pretty good but next time I run another first list. (second list was eMadrak, lost vs eVlad. Had him but FORGOT to put Blood Fury on the burrowers as I had planned - he survived with one box and then his two teams of Eliminators and a Doomreaver assassinated eMadrak)

But basically Grim+Bomber (Impaler included ofc) can take on whatever comes, especially when supported by Janissa, Pyre and safeguarded by the EBDT or similar heavy hitter.

Grim is a solid choice vs legion. anytime you can lower our defense and prevent us from charging on the following turn we get sad. feat on us and focus fire down the heavies as fast as you can.
