Default How do we deal with Absylonia?

So I've been playing a lot against Absylonia lately and only beat her once, which was due to player error giving the Backstrike to Cankerworm for a Headbutt. I don't wish to tailor, but, for example, his list(for 50pts) is usually along the lines of:

    Absylonia
    Carnivean
    Carnivean
    Angel
    Typhon
    Shredder
    Shredder
    Shredder
    Raek
    Forsaken
    Forsaken
    Forsaken

It so annoying to play against since it has so many options.

Heavies? Her heavies can scrap ours no problem and good luck killing the DEF17, no KD, Angel with Blightshroud over anything that can reach it. And you have to kill those beasts dead, pretty hard with Spiny Growth and Ridiculous Regeneration, or she'll just put you back to square one with her feat.

Infantry? 5 pow14 spays she can use in combat, picking out support solos and our warcasters with ease. Also the three Forsaken just move up and nuke all the infantry to death with auto-hitting Pow8s and you can kiss your caster goodbye if you camped a bit of focus to try to defend yourself against the sprays.

So how does cryx deal with Absylonia?

As an Absylonia player I've been moving away from Tier lists like that for a simple reason. With no screening troops the enemy can often just pick on my heavies as they like. Got an offensive debuff? She can't stop you. Got some Pistol Wraiths? They can pick on whatever heavy they want, becuase Absylonia can't do anything about it. Got a bunch of infantry? Sure I can mulch the first wave, but the rest of the unit that was screened by the front guys can now go charging on in.

There's definately options, and the list lets Cryx maximise using its cheap but hard hitting troops to beat up really expensive heavies.

I would say Skarre1 solves almost all the problems absolonia presents, if I remember Abby's rules right. Beasts just die under a flurry of chumpy infantry attacks.

Also, if you dont own blood witches, you should consider them. They are very potent against hordes, and the incorp mini feat will keep the blood witch alive for the turn that you really dont want him healing his beasts.

Im not sure if it stops her feat though, her feat might have weird non "healing" wording. I dont have her cards in front of me. either way bloodwitches are very, very good against hordes matchups.

One problem I see with that list is fury could cause them a lot of checks.

Without changing too much you could use scaverous, either denny or venny.

i play against my own blight army very often controlled by a friend.

pdenny is my fav caster to use vs abby. debuffs and movement shenanigans murder this type of list.

model choice (i use these without fail vs her)

pistol wraiths and a pair of warwitch sirens - both excellent at killing forsaken at range and both tremendous at stopping those heavies in their tracks. shadown bind on carnivean and its not doing anything, it can still spray you but its not too likely to hit. the pistol wraiths can do the same with their chain attack, easily hitting those (hopefully debuffed heavies) and making them forfeit movement or action. remove the forsaken and this army will be running dangerously hot with its fury.

reapers - abby loves to hide behind big bases as she runs fairly close to the action. in my exp behind an angel as they cant be knocked down and have huge DEF. debuff the angel boost to hit and that angel is getting dragged in, smash its face in and now abby is exposed. if you can see her you can arc scourge on her, if you can do that shes deadmeat.

arc nodes - nightwretch is my favourite because usually arcing onto abby herself and when shes debuffed i'll get a POW 14 off on her first to soften her up, sometimes half killing her. at 50pts i take 2 nodes as standard.

banes of your favourite flavour - prefer thralls for the UA, tough really helps to stop trampling heavies or scytheans going to town on a whole unit. no explanation is needed other than weapon master is teh awesome.

basically you screw with his movement and activation so much he's hitting you in dribs and drabs, you can pick out victims with reapers to drag them in to finish off totally as you're wasting your time entirely if you leave a heavy alive with even one box, it'll be back next turn. the unstoppable juggernaut charge he was hoping for simply won't happen and you will have the tools to open up LOS to abby herself for the pistol wraiths to nuke which is my favourite coup de grace for her.

all very straight forward, abby is very predictable and easy to beat when you know how.

    step 1: eDenny
    step 2: profit

Seriously, her feat is an utter nightmare for Absy. Run all your infantry in range to charge, pop Feat (and maybe try marked for death on the Angel with puppet-master backup), and watch the look of horror on your opponent's face as her realises he's about to lose 2-3 heavy beasts next turn and he has no way to stop it. if you can drop curse of shadows this turn, even better as you can cycle it between two carnies next turn. Try get admonia close enough to pop the forced evo off the Angel turn after as well, and you'll really ruin his day.

I'm looking forward to giving Lich Lord Venethrax a whirl against my freinds BeastHeavy Circle list, could he not pull off some fancy shenanigans against Legion aswell? (new to the game and just wondering...) use nodes to hellfire his big beasts and use the Fury they generate to buy more attacks etc with Venethrax after he mutilates them via his extra dice! Can't recall but I think he has Reach so you could try to set him up in a way that he can unload on more then one beast, spend his focus buying as many attacks as you can suck in said fury and repeat on the next beast, this would then (hopefully give you enough) allow you to kill the other load up on Fury and then camp your armor...

That's also one of the worst abby list i have seen. Cryx kills abby the same way they do everything else: Bile thralls, Bane Thralls and debuffs. If your running denny1 it should be little problem. Hell even denny2 says abby can't play for a turn.
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Run a Blood Hag. Heavies with no screening infantry should be no problem for Cryx.

Do note, Blood Hags aura doesn't prevent her feat.
