Default New guys Karchev tier list

I really like the look of Karchev and would like to know if he is any good? I've played Kommander Sorscha a few times and, sort of, know how the games played. I have the two player battle box, Karchev, a Kodiak, Man-O-War Demolition Corps, and grey lords (for his teir list)
I have the makings of a Karchev "Iron Curtain" tier list, and was wondering if it is any good. I plan on picking up another unit of Man-O-Wars, and the Man-O-War kovnik. I really like the look of the Man-O-Wars, and want more for bigger games.

    Karchev
    Destroyer
    Juggernaught
    Kodiak
    Man-O-War Shocktroopers (maximum)
    Man-O-War Demolition Corps (minimum)
    Greylords

I believe this is a 35 point list. The owner at my LGS told me that each warcaster has warjack points with are on top of the regular point list. So, for Karchevs 5 warjack points, it would be a total of 40 points I would have to play with. He also mentioned to build up a 35 point list, as it's usually what everyone plays, but look at getting 50 for tournaments. I don't know if I'll be playing in any tournaments right away, but would like to participate if one comes around my LGS.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Karchev is a tougher to play than he looks. Line of sight and his charge lanes are the first thing to watch out for. I believe that his theme force is built more towards a 50pt game, but I have played it at 35 pt with moderate success.

For larger games, take advantage of his mechanical body and mechanicks and the newer UA for them to help with your jacks and MoW. MoW Bombardiers are also going to be critical for you because the theme list is painfully slow and the guns will help control the board. Try to find a way to squeeze them into your 35 pt list if you can.

Check out battle college for a good overview of his relationships with jacks, but the two that standout the best for him in my opinion are the beserker and the kodiak which can both run without focus and have access to chain attacks which works with unearthly rage. This will let you have the choice of stacking focus and not being forced to use tow. Also down grading your current selection of jacks would free up points to get the mechanics, more mow, etc.

The biggest problem that karchev has is how slow and big he is. When you are not playing the theme list, units and solos that operate well with out buffs like Fenris, widowmakers, Da Bears, mortar, and manhunters, will give your the speed to control objectives and operate away from Karchev. All of these models work with the rest of the Khador casters as well and should be put into you collection. If you are looking to keep with the MoW theme the drakkun would be good pick up. In order to protect Karchev, the wardog and orgun bokur are high on the prioity list given him being a bullet magnet and to prevent him from getting boged down in melee.

A kovik is not somthing you should be focused on for Karchev, unlike most casters his battlegroup size is not dictated by his focus allocation, but rather by his contol area, thanks to a combination of his feat and unearthly rage. His battle group just keeps getting better the more you put in it. His effective maximum number of jacks is far more than the normal 2 or 3 jacks that most khador casters get away with. This reduces his dependence on jack marshals that other casters have. A kovik would be a good pick up once you get into the larger 100 pt multi caster games to tag in for Karchev if he dies early as the kovik works well with the same jacks as Karchev. In the 35-50pt game, the kovik and jack isn't going to provide you with much more than what a MoW unit could accomplish for the same cost.

Hopefully this will help you out.
