    Default Four Stars for Magnus

Since Cygnar is repeatedly getting its butt kicked across the fluff, they are in desperate need of some mercenary help. As such, I've managed to collect a few mercenaries, including a Magnus battle box (I think the paymasters may have made a mistake). Anway, I discovered I can make a 25 point 4-Star pMagnus list using what I have. And I don't think the list is too bad either.

    pMagnus +6
    Renegade (0)
    Mangler 8
    Talon 4
    Reinholdt 1

    Devil Dogs (max) 7
    Rhupert Carvolo 2

    pEiryss 3

I've yet to test it out, but hopefully I'll be able to get in a game with it this week.

My question to you is what should I add here to make it a 35 point list?

I got in a game with this list last week. I was in the process of writing up a battle report, but my laptop's hard drive died . . . again. 3 Toshiba laptops, 3 dead hard drives. I think I've learned my lesson. So I'll instead make a shorter battle report.

I faced off against Kraye with 2 hunters, a lancer, a hammersmith, a sentinel, and a squire. Magnus nearly bit the dust, but he won (with 4hp left). In the beginning, Kraye's jacks were dancing around mine, doing damage to my mangler. I normally play Cygnar, so this list felt painfully slow. So I did the only thing I could think to do - ram my jacks down Kraye's throat. It was surprisingly effective.

The devil dogs and magnus took down the lancer and the hammersmith. Eiryss kept the hunters busy, and my three jacks ganged up on a sentinel . . . and completely failed to kill it.

The game ended when Kraye tried to flank and kill Magnus. It didn't work. Instead, the renegade took a free strike from the sentinel, sent its rocket at Kraye, knocking him down. Magnus used Obliteration, and then the devil dogs ran in and trashed Kraye for the kill.

    It was an interesting game.

I am considering getting some steelhead halbadiers, as they should be able to deal with infantry threats. Anyone have idead on what I should get for the remaining 4 points to 35?

Well, i would personally take a min unit of stealhead halberdiers (4pts) and a min unit of stealhead cavalry (6pt). This will help to deal with your speed issues and apparent damage output issues (3 jacks vs a light... bad luck dude). Its also really fun to play with some speed!

Not a bad list... I would shift the Talon over to Sam and marshal it

From your initial comment on Cygnar, I assume you play them as well?

If this is the case then I suggest picking up a max unit of Boomhowlers to help expand to 35pts - they are great fits wtith both pMagnus and many Cygnar casters; plus they are one of the best jamming units in the game.

Kraye is Steady. You couldn't have knocked him down. Doesn't sound like it would have changed anything though. Sound tactics. Magnus loves his jacks.

I love magnus, and the list I"m toying with now is.

    pMagnus
    -Mule
    -Nomad
    -Renegade
    Thor
    -Avalancher

But Baron, what's the avalancher for other than sucking wind and taking hits like a baby? Nothing! Arm 23 with temper metal. Tune up from Thor makes him crazy awesome mobile artillery and Thor and his jacky poo just goes first as the spear head.

Aw man. I made a similar mistake the week before when my Charger headshotted Denny1 for 18 damage! Only later did I realize that she had stealth. My wins do not feel like victories now, but I blame the players for not knowing their casters.

Ok, the Deneghra player was new to the game, but the Kraye player had no excuse.
