Default General slaughterborn uses and love.

I have one game where slaughterborn made it into combat, every other time he gets sniped out. But i only run him in my pskarre list. (i try to keep all my lists steamroller friendly) But the one time he did make it in a tourny against mercs, he kill 8 warrior models and put 8 pts of damage on a warcaster.

So i guess what im asking is, are there any good ways of keeping him alive? The only jacks I run with pskarre are two helldivers, so he cant hid behind them.

And i finailly started painting him, heres my progress (post up yours if hes battle ready).

If possible, let him run second wave.. I don't use spells to protect him but maybe I'm just lucky, cause he makes it to combat 85% of the time :-) people know him and fear him so naturally they will try to kill him fast.. Stealth could be fun for him

I usually have him second wave. The satyxis raiders usually get the alpha strike. Also if you really want to keep him alive and see what he can do play him with:

eSkarre: feat on him so he can't be targeted with attacks

eAsphyxious- hide him behind caustic mists. When he dies bring him back and point and click him where ever you want.

You know the Coven? Yeah, they have this great spell called Occultation. A Gerlack with Occultation on him is just beyond any stretch of the word fair. Just this combo allowed my Gerlack to reach a line of Skorne Praetorians that were placed so neatly he could kill 22 of them in a single turn.

How I generally use him though (and this is almost every game) is as first wave with two units of Gorgers in my Venethrax list and as second wave either alone or with a single minimum unit of Gorgers. Sometimes he make it, other times he draws the fire from an entire unit, allowing something equally or more dangerous to reach my opponent. Another fun thing is to field a full unit of Mechanithralls with three Brute Thralls attached and then just run the Brutes as screens for him. Gerlack is definitely one of the very best Cryx solos. And at 3 points? Sweet marmelade!

Being new to Cryx I still really only use pDenny from the battlebox. I have been successful more or less with having my skarlock cast ghostly on him and us the terrian to hide him. I picked him up because I loved the model and after painting him I will have to get some bloodgorgers to go with him. Once they are painted up I plan to hide him behind them. I have also have hided him behind DW or a heavy, to cover the angle a range unit would need on him.

The lighting was weird for these shots, the water effect on the base is not shiny but the matte model is? Strange, any way I am going to try and gore up the unit of bloodgorgers aswell. I wanted Slaughterborn to be kind of over the top with his fists dripping and his whole front splattered in blood.

Your best bet is to deliver him via gOrger unit. It's easy to do.

I had a buddy try and shoot him with some gun mages, but rolled horribly on damage, and then slaughterborn just charged and walked through 4 out of six of them and got in melee with the last two(snakes eyes to hit the fifth guy. :[. it was awesome. that was the only time anyone's tried to kill him before he got to something.. odd.

I've had Slaughterborn kill 20+ models in one turn, and survive through round after round of punishment. I've also had him fumble horribly, whiff his first attack, and die to a stiff breeze.

Deliver him as a one- man clean up crew, after your frontline has smashed into your opponent. This all but guarantees he gets there, while having less chance of falling flat and paying a heavy price for it like you would for sending him in first.

Sometimes you have to send him in first, but only do it if you know it's something he can handle. Basic infantry often have trouble dealing with him.

If him being shot down early is becoming a huge problem for you, just run him a bit farther back and run him in your mid- line (Second wave).

I like sticking him on a flank, whether or not I bring the Bloodgorgers with him. If the opportunity presents itself for me to charge into a unit with him, great. More often than not these days though, people know what his job is and skirt infantry around him...Fantastic, now I have a 3pt model that creates board control. Something that I use him a lot for these days is killing multi-wound infantry/putting the hurt on a jack...People are always so concerned about him taking out a unit, they never seem to view him as a reach, POW 13, MAT 8 weapon master (against damaged models).
