Default TheMadSteward's alt. scheme Legion of Everblight

    Hey guys,
I've been playing my Legion for the past year or so now, and figured it would be time to catalog my painting. So i figured that right now I'd show pics of my finished stuff and also update this to record new wips and completed models. So far I only have my PThagrosh 35pt list painted plus some extras. The only model that is missing a picture is the Carnivean until I can repaint or paint a new one. So, please, enjoy my alt. scheme Legion and let me know what you think.

I really dig the blue tones in the skin. I also like the blending, and contrast, of the red armor plates.

    Keep it up!

Really solid jobs. Come on though, those arc markings are sloppy and let the nice bases down!

... I like the worn optics of your NNMs!

The red blight details add nice accents to the Forsaken and on the other models as well, although I missed them on the Raek and Typhon...

Very, very nice. I really like the dark shading on the beasts.

While I don't really like blue, Your models do look fantastic, the skin texture the shades and highlights all look great, good work.

    I love it.

Arc markings look fine as they are but you could do something more if your felt the urge, even two tone it with the whole of the back arc in that grey.

the blue is quite striking on the beasts, beautiful - carries over nicely into the smaller models.

Thanks for replies everyone. Glad you all liked them. Don't have time for an update right now, but there will be a Shepherd wip sometime this afternoon.

Yeah, I know they could be better, but they were done the morning before I left for Adepticon and needed something to mark the arcs. Haven't gotten around to redoing them.

Yeah that's because the forsaken was an older scheme with more grey than blue and red as well as the brown scales/chittin. It looked fine on smaller models, but when I tried it on the carnivean it looked too cluttered, so I altered it a bit and just went down to the blue, brown, and bone for my other beasts. The red is still to be applied to Solo's and 'Lock's armor to stand out from the rest, but not on the other models.

Thanks, the recipe is really quite simple actually, its all in the application. I start with a P3 "Coal Black" base on the whole skin. I then slowly mix in P3 "Trollblood Base" for the layers. I personally did my mixes as so. Coal black, 10:1 Coal - Trollblood, 10:2 Coal - Trollblood, etc up until about 10:17 Coal - Trollblood. Although, the graduation and amount of mixes can be scaled to taste depending on how stark you want the layers.

Like I said, look out for a Shepherd wip later today. I still have to complete:
    eVayl (built)
    eLylyth (Built)
    pLylyth (Primed)
    pLylyth (unbuild)
    6 Shredders (2 primed, 4 unbuilt)
    6 Striders + UA (Primed)
    Carnivean (Built)
    Angelius (built)
I am also planning on ordering a Ravagor and Succubus later this week. By the way, reason for Shredders and 2 pLylyths is because I acquired the metal battlebox when I, then got the plastic one for free at Adepticon

    Cheers

Here is the Shepherd wip that I promised. Got the straps, robe, outer cloak, and skin completed. Still have the armor, weaponry, and small details to finish before I start on the base. It's dark outside today so not the best pictures, but it should give a fairly decent representation.

The cloak is less flat IRL, with several highlights on it. Not too sold on it, might darken it up with a brown wash or something to tone it down. What do you guys think?

    C&C always welcome

Edit: Not sure why second picture it rotated. It is showing up normally in photobucket and my folder here so not sure what I did wrong. If someone could help it would be appreciated. Otherwise, sorry about that
