    Default Blood's Retribution

Man, It's been a while since I posted or painted anything. this is the first mini in about 9 months or so and a new faction. testing out the pseudo-studio theme. (Wow, Pseudo Studio would be a great name)

Anywho, about half done with this here magister and jsut wondering how it's turning out so far.

    ... nice earthy colors.

Do you plan to do the accent details with a real bright color or leave it somewhat camouflage (in the good meaning of this word)?

looking good - is that some arcane glow peeking from those mittens. Like the strong colors and the contrast with the white armor.

Sorry for the picture quality. I just bought a Droid Razr and have been trying to get used to the camera/lighting. For some reason I keep getting this Dreamy ethereal effect that I didn't get with my galaxy s.

    Finished an arcanist

Finished basing Disco and a magnetized myrmidon.

Just need to paint them. Hopefully I'll have them done tomorrow.

I like the poses on those myrms, especially the Hydra/magno-jack. How does that work with it holding the tree, though? Does the hand stay attached and the forearm is switchable?

As for the picture quality, maybe try turning down the exposure? Not sure how you do that on a Droid, I think each manufacturer's camera app is a little different. That should help eliminate the glare anyway, I think, though I'm no photography expert.

I dunno... these pics turned out fine... weird. Anyway. glowy-bits on disco.

As for magna-myrm the hand actually is magnetized (as is the elbow), but has a pin running through it and the tree. the tree's just flexible enough for you to pop out the other forearm out and pop the new one in.

Very well executed studio scheme. The forest bases add a lot to the models and the more dymamic poses don't hurt either. Good job!

I really wish this was a better picture. Once I get a little more done, I'll take everything outside and reshoot photos.

I'll probably do a woodland base tutorial some time in the future then.

Ok, so I basically took a month off aside from painting... this.

I still need to work on his staff a little.

Up next a full unit of MHSF+UA. Let's see if I can do this in a week.

wow this unit took a long time to paint. I'm sup[prized. Even after painting Cryx which is pretty detailed, this took a long time.

    Up next... stormfall archers.

glowing runes are a 50/50 mix of citadel goblin green and arkane blue, water it down with some matte medium and a bit of water into a nice wash. then I [aint it into the crack, going over the edges just a little and wet blend the edges onto the white.

I'm loving your model selection, basing, and paint job. The white is very nicely executed.

so... 9 months after selling the army... I'm back to owning a ton of it. Decided to work on a new scheme. I haven't started basing yet, but will have to cast a ton of them before I get started on that.

I'm deciding to go with a fall theme and have changed my colors up to reflect that. I decided to keep a classic "White plate" on all jacks and unit leaders.

Did you buy back your Retribution from the person that bought it from you? I only ask as I'm on rendition 2 of my own retribution. I did not buy it back from the original person, however I did purchase my boatload of Ret models for about $100 (Phoenix, Discordia, Griffon, Chimera, 3x full Taskforce, Narn, Nyal, Garrath, Raven, 2x Stormfall, Full Rifleman w UA, 2x Assassins, Magistrar)

I like the black / gold so far, very different~

No, I bought them from a diffrent person. LOL. I tried 2 more paint schemes.

Meh, while I like the coal black, I'm not sure the green or grey go with it well, and I don't want to try to paint white over such a dark color.

Decided to try to add some mint accents to the standard white. I really like it. Also tied back to the coal black. decided to cut down the middle between the green and coal black to hilight accents on the arcantrik inductors.
