Painting my Trollbloods. More than I can chew

I think I bit off more than I can chew. I've decided I would like to paint my trollbloods in a theme based on toads. More specifically Fire-Bellied toads. The trollbloods have always reminded me of frogs. with there lack of nose and random bumps on their flesh. I think it would look very cool. But how do I pull it off? I don't want them to be 'pretty' but genuine.

My advice would be to make the top half of the modle in the green and the "softer" under parts in the yellow.. get those colors the tone you want them then after that do the black lines or blobs

Hey its been a long time and no idea if anyone is still looking. But I finally started painting again. I am not finished with this model. Its kinda my demo hopefully it isn't a Abomination. and then i have an army to paint.

Interesting concept. It's hard to say till you hit it with some washes though.

It could work. At first it reminded me of G.I. Joy toys, on second glance you manage to break the TB mould for colours. It would be interesting to see how it looks on models such as Fennblades and Champions.

It looks pretty good and as suggested put some washes on it, especially on the metals and the leathers and clothes.

yeah needs washes for sure. Just haven't gotten that far. what about the skin? Do i give a brown wash to add shadow and dirt?

An update. As far as my skill goes this troll is done. I will base it and post it. along with future trolls.

I love it. I think it really brings out a new way to look at Trolls, and the painting is excellent. Kudos. I'd never considered Trolls to be Frogs. They just became significantly more interesting to me

Concept number 2. The skin colors didn't look right with a black primer. So I went over it with a white and it looks a lot better. I went over the everything else with black to help the armor match on the two impalers.

This looks really cool. Great concept and execution, and very unique spin on the trolls. Personally, I think I'd like a little less of the bright color and more green on the sides of the body, but that's a matter of taste.

That is a really good idea. I hadn't thought of that. it would add great contrast

You like the yellow and green over the red and green? I suppose I could more accurately simulate the pattern. I will have to work on my skills and patience. It would look very cool if the black markings where as to him as say loose change is to us (size)

edit: perhaps it won't... maybe instead of trying to paint the spots I just apply the tip of the brush to make a spot. small brush small dot and just do it a lot. I am liking this idea! I will get up some pics soon of how this turns out. Cheers
