Agreed about Boomhowler and co. but I really like the look of Horthol the most. He seems the most "realistic" of the Trollblood models to me.

I like the Fennblades, among other stuff - I would not have ventured into TB if I didnt like most models i use.

I wonder if the Fennblades lower body/legs could be used with the SoB upper body? Would that give better proportions maybe?

some times the effort really isn't worth it.

The entire game can be played with marked bases if one wishes, but it sure isn't last time I checked.

Sometimes. It has to do with which models are viable/competitive, and which aren't. If 'good' models look bad, then yes it has that much weight to it. If the ugly models are mediocre play-wise, then it really makes no difference to me. I don't play my Khador much because WGI and Kayazy look god awful but they're almost (not completely) required to be competitive.

Likewise, Sons have AMAZING rules but... well, look at them. I can't even be bothered owning the models. I hate all of the new Troll plastics aside from Fenns (they look incredible), and some of the metals are less than appealing, including all of the Madraks. Ew. Then it comes down to cost. The plastics are cheaper and the new heavy kits give a lot more options.

I know I can mod/greenstuff models to 'fix' their inherent problems, but I don't want to because it isn't fun in this case. Modding and converting should be something you enjoy doing, not something you feel you HAVE to do to make a model good enough that you are proud of, and enjoying, fielding it.

I think that's where our mentalities differ. If I see something awful, I look at as a challenge to make it what it should have been, make it better, and to make it uniquely mine.

I've always had the philosophy that if a game ceases to be fun, it's time to pack it in. I can understand your position and if the faction isn't working for you on multiple levels, there's only so much you can do when its not fun. That's part of the reason I picked up Trolls and got rid of my Circle and Skorne. Hope you can find that balance you are looking for.
So play like you've got a pair, or put down the metal and go find something made of plastic.

    Those faces are an abomination.
If I ever get that unit I will definately order some heads from the bits store, they are hideous well beyond whats acceptable.
At least with the B13 I can pretend they are tiny people, there is no stopping these guys from being utterly hideous.
It doesnt look like the are screaming to me, it looks like they are cortorting their faces because of something unpleasant they ate.
    More mean stuff, /repeat.

They're really screaming because their legs are actually in proportion to the rest of their bodies. But they were stuck in the Black 13th's pants and shoes, much like Andre the Giant wearing PeeWee Herman's pants.

You'd be screaming like that too.

I like the faces, makes me think they really could break your bones just by yelling at you.

Yeah, the fennblades are largely one big body and legs then you just attach arms. Still, if you can find 2 friends that all wanna do it, it will only cost you about 15 bucks each!

I was thinking about splitting a box of Fennblades and then cutting them in half. And then do the same with SoBs and then preform a lower body transplant. The Fenns looks good and are plastic making it somewhat easier. perhaps the Fenns heads could be used as well. Perhaps to much of a hassle and $$ anyways, and to get anything out of it the Fenns legs must really make the proportions better in the end.

It does sound interesting, I'd definitely like to see that conversion. Fennblade heads don't come separate though, a head transplant could give you trouble.

There's a guy on ebay sells bits and chunks of plastic kits. I think you can get 2 Fennblades from him at a premium.

I'm looking at Kriel Warriors or Champion bodies, just need a size comparison. Don't want to go from the frying pan to the fire.

Indeed Hoard o' bits in eBay has a crap ton of plastic bits. Makes replacement parts easy to come buy in case your wife or two year old get carried away with your toys.

I love it when I see some random non-sequitor quote in someone's tag, and then realize it was something I said and completely forgot about

I find them fugly; I hate anything to do with conversions, so there is no way I will ever play these guys. If a company doesn't produce a product I find appealing, I certainly won't buy it and then more parts just to fix their horrible sculpts. Their physiology has completely horrible proportions unless they got modeled based on gorillas: their arms are longer than their entire body length. As for their heads, for me it's not so much the fact that they are shouting/screaming/chanting/whatever, it's that there is entirely too much gumline visible compared to their teeth.

The hawks are more impressive in person, everything about them is.

Assembled, primed, ready to go. Once I put my wife and kids to bed tonight, I got a date with the SoB... I might even paint them too.

It's not about the new exclusive models either. The insanely positive vibe surrounding this event has convinced a handful of our lgs regulars to commit to attending 2013. Well, we might have been a weeeeee bit influenced by exclusively new models. Having a MtK sitting on a game table when I walked in last night made me as giggly as a school girl.

It was a good time indeed. My sons are ready for paint and I am holding off on my MK so that I can airbrush the basecoat on. Was thinking about investing in one considering we are seeing a shift in larger models. It's tough because I realy want my MK painted and on the table...

Just pull the trigger and get an airbrush, it will make everything so much faster and easier. There's so many good deals you can get on one with a compressor for under $150 and if you get good with it you can do three quarters of a model with an airbrush then just do the last details and washes with a brush. Do it man!

what about trying to mod them with the scattergunner stander bearer legs, i think it might fit them well to help them equal out their leg size.
