Default Advice needed: I need a Circle friendly carrying case

Hey guys. My family is moving and I need to get the cabinets I left there moved as well. I've wanted a carrying case for some time now and this is the perfect opportunity to finally get one. My plastic GW stuff and metal monsters I can transport as usually in a variety of Ikea boxes. My brother's fatties, err, Titans as well as my Trolls should fit in a GW case I can borrow, but Circle stuff is TALL and heavy, so more protection is needed (insert "Circle is fragile" joke").

But: I've never used a carrying case and don't know which of my large models are best transported standing and which I can lay down. Plus, there's so many different manufactures out there and all those weird Imperial measurements are too much for my brain to handle at the moment (it's stuffed full with anatomy facts, med school is brutal), so I need honest and unbiased advice to get my models cheap and, more importantly, safe from A to B during the move and later from my student flat to paint and back home to stow them. I don't care if there's a PP/GW/Flames of War/Barbie logo on the case or not.

Even just looking at one online store there's already:

-Battlefoam (with custom PP trays but NOT for Cirlce )

-Feldherr. Now this is interesting, since they're German made. I might get better deals on them plus easy warranty dealings and stuff.

    -GW

    -Mantic

    -Chessex

Yeah. That's a lot of stuff. And even if the quality of the cases and trays is largely the same, which configuration of trays do I need for my hulking monsters?

Some models that give me troubles to see how they'd best be stowed:

-Warpwolf Stalker. Huuuge dude with a giant sword and his (converted) pose just adds to it (left arm behind him, sort of like the new plastic kit, PP must've stolen my idea)

-Pureblood. Just as huge, not converted but I don't want pretty boy to loose his spikes.
-Converted (running) Gnarlhorn. He has a broad back to rest on, though, so he doesn't have to stand.

-Converted beast Kromac. He has the pose of his artwork, his left axe+arm comes up to a Pureblood's nose and he has lots of tiny GS teeth.

-Wolf riders. I'm converting a squad of them right now out of the new GW Fenris wolves and some Blood Trackers. They're light and should be handled easily, but they're huuuge vertically with those stretching/jumping wolves.

    - 3 Self-sculpted bipedal sharks standing in for Wrastlers/Snapjaw in my tiny minion force. Two of them have looong tails, from toothy end to the end of the tail they're about the length of the Stalker from his base to the tip of his sword.

-A Carnivean. Such a ball of spikes.

-Bronzeback with his right arm reposed, not a lot different from a regular one but the joint is probably weaker.

-A punching/bear hugging Gladiator with his right arm raised high. He himself should be able to withstand a tactical nuke, but if he gets tossed around he just might punch right through the foam around him if it's too thin and wreak havoc on whatever is next to him with his sharp fist spike.

Thanks in advance, I hope this is an okay place to ask this. I'll try to get a pic or two of the main culprits later.

I have the WM Battlefoam bag with the pluck foam. While I don't know how tall some of your models are, all of my heavies with standard poses just stand up in the 4" foam tray.

    @ OP...

Battle Foam has been my bag of choice, and I've had both of the major players in the market. They have a nice partnership w/ PP, make custom fit trays, and have the pluck foam for your own creations. Most trays have varying heights, tho I myself haven't needed them. I'd look into them, I think you'll be happy.

I highly recommend the battle foam bag with the custom warbeast foam and the custom wolf rider foam. I have both and have been pretty happy with them. The wolf rider foam is also good for things like the Gallows Groves that are fairly tall and have a lot of things that could break.

I just finally picked up a Battlefoam case at Lock & Load. ( Been wanting one for a while, and they were 20% off. My Wife wanted one for her Mercs, and so we each got one. )

Not super happy with it. It does hold lots of figures, and all the heavies fit great. The problem is the small trays. I broke several spears on my Wolves, and several javelins on my Bloodtrackers fitting them in. When I get home I'm going to play around with it a bit and see if I can maybe stratigically cut out several parts and make some of those models fit better. AFTER I glue ( and pin ) new spears/javelins on my models.

Perhaps I should order a few of their pluck foam trays and see if they fit better.

My brother and I use the portable warfare cases with the blu pluck foam. Not too expensive and gets the job done, i love it!

Highly recommend K.R. Multicase, quite a bit cheaper than Battlefoam and have custom Circle trays:

My case of choice is a Plano 1404 reel/pistol case. They come with foam in them, and there's a bit of DIY element in cutting the foam and possibly mounting some foam to the bottom of the pluck layer, but for the price, and the fact that they are hardshell, I generally prefer them over Battlefoam or Sabol. I picked all 4 of mine up locally at Sports Authority for $16 apiece, and they've worked pretty well so far. I will grant though, that they're not sized well for transporting Battle Engines or Colossals.

If you're not in the US or somewhere else where firearm use is normal, they sell the exact same case as a reel case, rather than a pistol case. Might help avoid having customs asking some pointed questions.

I would also recommend KR's cases. For a video and discussion on their product check http://www.focusandfury.com/forum/in...p?topic=4127.0
