Default What would an athanc do on the tabletop?

I'm starting a league soon in which Cryx and Legion have forced other armies to help them recover an athanc. For the last battle, I want to have an athanc act as a scenario piece in the middle of the table. But rather than it just be a boring flag, I want there to be some benefit to controlling/contesting it, possibly a high risk/high reward sort of deal.

I don't know how much info exists about athancs, but I'm hoping for some cool ideas about what the athanc could do for the final battle. I thought about:
    - +2 to all stats while B2B, but suffer 1 point of damage at the start of your turn.
    - a cumulative +1 for each consecutive turn a warlock/caster is B2B, with a cumulative +1 damage
    - while B2B and no other enemy model is, warlock/caster can deal 1 point of damage to a model within 8 inches of the athanc

Obviously, my creativity is lacking on this idea, which is why I'm hoping you guys can come up with a memorable piece for the final battle.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I think it would be a cool idea to increase the focus/fury of a warcaster/warlock while they are the only model B2B with it. Up it to something large like 12-15. It would make the athanc holder ridiculously powerful, and it would really force players toward it. It is ridiculously overpowered, but I kind of figured that might be what you're going for.

i think it would sustain the life and give powers to a warlock when jabbed into his heart.

i could see a constant blight shroud doing pow 8 to every thing within 8 inches and 16 to everything in base to base at the beginning of the round and increasing the controlling warlock/warcasters focus/fury stat by 1 or 2

this would fit what we know about them and make it both beneficial and detrimental for your warlock/warcaster to control it by being in base to base

It provides 1 Fury at the start of your turn if you are under your Max Fury.

Have it provide a cumulative stat bonus to all friendly models in the caster's control area while the caster is in b2b with it and give the caster a "Devourer's Debt" type effect where the stat increase (+1 attack/damage rolls) increases but the caster slowly takes more damage. You can also give models the ability to move the athanc so that you can pull it closer to your lines to make it safer for your caster.
