Default New Start Up Terrain Company

I saw this site and thought it was a great idea using rubber instead of resin. Has anybody bought from them?

Check out the abuse this stuff can take!

Looks like a new company, but they have some sets out and a bunch in concept phases. When some money frees up I'll buy a set and let you know what I think of it. It might be a while though, it turns out babies (my son is five months old now) are expensive, who woulda thunk it?!

Here's the second abuse video. Didn't know only one could be posted at a time:

Looks like solid stuff; but pretty far on the expensive end. Pre-painted terrain is nice; but this kind of terrain would be SUPER simple to paint in the first place so it doesn't save you much.

Yeah, looks cool, but it's far from 'affordable.' If they had some unpainted ones for like 25-30% off that cost, I could see myself getting some.

Wow, it is incredible, i think it is worth to have colored ones also....

    Hey guys,

A friend pointed me towards this board to check out your post - I'm the guy responsible for that terrain, so I thought I would clear up a couple things.

The terrain has moved on a bit from the stuff shown in the videos. It's still that tough, but it's solid rubber now, not filled with foam, so it's not quite so squooshy.

In terms of the cost... we ran a Kickstarter last year to fund the molding and casting of our first models. At that time, our goals were to be super tough, beautiful, and really affordable. As we found out, you just can't have all three. The economics say "No". So we opted for keeping it tough and looking great, and we charge what we have to. We're trying to work the prices down, but we also have committed to keeping all production in the US.

You guys, people who like modelling and building their own stuff, probably aren't really in the target market. If you're capable of making exactly what you want, you don't need to spend good money on someone else's ideas

I remember when you debuted this stuff over on the HA forums. Really neat idea. But as you said, not really for everyone. I think the best market for this is really game stores. If the game stores I've visited frequently are typical, which I'm sure they are, the terrain there goes through some serious abuse, and things that you could drop kick across the store and just dump in a big old box at the end of the day are perfect for this environment. Would also be great for anyone who runs tournaments or travels with terrain a lot.

Actually that's true. That stuff takes a lot of abuse and repairing terrain is a pain. Replacing it would be more expensive than just getting super durable stuff in the first place.

Actually it does look like they sell some stuff unpainted for about a 15% discount.

The thing that attracted me to this product, besides the good looks, was the durability. That's why I posted their abuse videos. I don't have room in my house to store terrain on a shelf or keep a table out all the time. All the terrain goes into a box and into the closet. Needless to say that method of storage makes for alot of terrain repair/replacement. It may be pricey, but it saves on future expenses that I would see with resin, plaster or foamboard based terrain. So, yeah, I hope to buy some in the near future.

Yeah, if your situation warrants highly-durable terrain this seems like a good idea. As others have said, repairing or replacing terrain can be time-consuming and costly. So if you'll expect that to be necessary than the up-front cost of this durable terrain might be wortwhile.

With all the options out there nowadays, I just can't see paying over $60 on a set of busted walls. I do love the idea of it near indestructible, though.

GW's business model is adamantly opposed to terrain you'd only have to buy once. They want to keep milking you for the same stuff over and over.
If they could find a way to make you replace your terrain as frequently as they obsolete your armies, you bet they'd do it.
