Just heard Flanzer won the L and L masters with P doomshaper! Way to go Flanzer! And they all said P doomshaper was crap. CONGRATS FLANZER!

And Grissel2. Don't forget Grissel2.
Congrats Flanzer!

WAR TROLLS! Hoping there will be some sort of bat rep posted here or on a blog someplace, and said blog post will be linked?
Grats to Flanzer!
PDoomshaper is the man, question is, how many Runeshaper units did he use.![]()
Huh. Well, looks like I have to re-evaluate pDoomy and the Runeshapers (though the latter received my scorn simply for being UGLY, not for having bad rules). Happy to be wrong about Doomshaper!

Nice! Congrats!

4. The list is up on the NQ blog.
Runeshapers are definitely nasty and particularly so when they go FA: U and -1 PC. I've been salivating over that theme list for a while now, but there's so many other things I could do with that money.
Awesome to see Trolls win! Always impressed with the variety of top armies in this game.![]()
Well I am very very impressed and can't wait to hear the reports
How is what i wanna know. Grissel2 I get but pDoomy?

I win with pDoomy pretty regularly. I am more interested to see how he won with eGrissel who has been the stink in my book.

She clears (high def)infantry like a champ. Sprays, AOE's and decent def stats really make her a not so bad package, just don't focus on the spells when you don't need them. Make your army work for you like it's supposed to and play smart, but don't take it from me...
It's not that bad. Especially if you run it like he does with only 4 units of Runeshapers - which also makes it less vulnerable to antimagic screwjobs. I actually played the exact same list last Tuesday against Werecat and Blaque, playing Errants/Book and the Druids respectively, and was able to fight through the anti-magic.
I am much more interested in seeing him talk about Grissel2 - I got her to sort of work, but didn't much enjoy it and she definitely seemed weaker. I thought Doomy1 was weaker too until I figured him out a bit more with Flanzers help. Maybe he can do something similar with Grissel2.
Of course he did!
Now the pDoomy list I was making looks like a Johnny-come-lately
I watched him play Grissel 2. She isn't perfect for all situations, but when Inhospitable Ground is doing its thing she is pretty boss.
I have said all along that eGrissel is legit.
Most recent post on my blog is Data geek fun with game record and battle journal update and I tweet game stuff @somnicidal
he ran an earthborn, mulg, mauler, janissa, full krielstone, axer, and 4 runeshaper units. scenario was supply and demand i believe. flanzer moved his krielstone unit fully within his zone and surrounded his objective, then applied pressure to van meter's objective with runeshapers, backed up by his beasts. he won by assassination, but van meter's hand was forced by flanzer's 2 control points.
i think.
The great thing about pDoomy tier is that you will almost always have the element of surprise and unfamiliarity, as so few players can afford to field that list, so almost no one has any practical experience with it.
The downside is, now that Flanzer won with it, I bet it shows up a lot more at tournaments, which means it will lose a bit of potency. eGrissel is a bit more interesting, and I'd love to see the battle reports. Against non-pathfinder armies, IG alone can be enough to win you games in scenario play, so I am curious to see how many times he played her and against what.
Rasheth 2012: Chains we can believe in!
liquidu pretty much has it. Supply and Demand. He swarmed his objective fast and pushed hard diagonally across the table to the other one. At one very dangerous point, he had the axer, mauler, and ebdt ALL frenzy at once. Fortunately, they had enemy models to snack on. eVayl had her two Angelii on the far flank, and a single runeshaper unit kept both of them occupied the entire game, hammering them to pieces at range and making tough rolls like champs. Until, that is, one Angel frenzied and decided his buddy was being insulting and crippled the other angel. Scythean whiffed it's non-charge attacks (had to cross a linear obstacle) on a mauler, and well, got mauled and mulg'd. Endgame, Vayl got desperate and got too close. Runeshaper knocked her down within range of a rushed Mulg.
Beyond that, watch their blogs for a more complete (and less sleep deprived) report. I really enjoyed watching the game while assembling my mountain king. Seeing two tier 4 lists (and fully painted, too) at the final table was awesome.
Congrats Flanzer!
Sounds look a great fight on the finals table. Look forward to hearing the reports![]()

I'm really just puzzled at how that list is supposed to work. Anyone have some insight on the general tactics of it?
I'm just curious what the eGrissel list was. I haven't heard anything about it.
I'm not a Trolls player, but I sort of suspect that it was a Grissel2 theme force. I know there are some of the more common Troll support pieces that you can't take, but being able to play reduced cost cavalry models seems to make up for it quite a bit I'd think. Granted, I could be crazy, but 2 War Wagons and Full Cav seems solid and hard to deal with.
congratulations flanzer! i'd love to see an eGrissel write up on breaking the format, like the one you guys did for Vayl. or a pDoomy one!
pDoomy is borderline hard counter for a lot of the more common Legion locks. Rampager and Feat, not to mention a plethora of ARM22 trolls and mass force lock, does a lot to shut down Legion's A-game.
Still, I've been an avid pDoomy player since Day 1 with trolls, and an adamant proponent of him being above 'dead last' in the faction rankings. Great to see someone take the old man for a spin and do well.

Are you familiar with the beast brick? Generally, Janissa drops wall and the KSB pops aura. pDoomy & the Earthborn drop elemental Communion on Mulg/Mauler and/or Axer. You end up with 3 beasts at ARM 22+.
The Runeshapers jam things up, lock things down and blast things with Pow 14 AOEs. They make great roadblocks at ARM 17 and the stone will almost always be full or nearly so because it starts with 5 fury on it, one for each Runeshaper unit and solo. Also, just read that bit and realized I cheated myself of one fury in my last game because I forgot that Janissa counted.
You also get 2 walls to throw out there, and basically march up the field in an unkillable brick and kill things. Pop feat at a good time to cause problems, swing animi around and cause problems.
He also was in the top 4 in hardcore with Trolls and Pdoomy, but his dice were not friendly to him in the game vs Pagani.
That and Will Pagani is a tough customer.

Thanks for this and the other response. The runeshapers are really what I was scratching my head about. I didn't think about them being inside the KSB aura for some reason, so that helps the survivability and tremor + forcelock does seem like it would lock things down pretty effectively while your beasts do the killing.
Thanks for all of the great posts guys! Honestly, as any one I talked to post-game will tell you, I am just so happy to win with Trollbloods and, moreover, Doomshaper. If it tells you how happy I was for the old man, the first thing I did after speaking with Jake and shaking hands was to lift Doomy into the air for a moment in the sky. Every tournament someone wins takes luck, skill, and determination and I had just enough of that this weekend to get it done with the Trollbloods. They are my favorite faction and can stand up to ANYTHING, and I am happy I could do them a little justice. If I ever wanted anything out of this victory, it is to prove that the Trollbloods are legit and that if you are down on them ever to always look to your favorite warlock for help. With 71/168 total points being heavies and over half of my points (87/168) being spent on beasts, it is clear there is no way to define our faction. From me marching 174 health boxes of warrior models of Borka Tier 4 Family Reunion to my Grissel2 list with my only warrior models being a KSB, whelps, and Grissel2, it is obvious we can do lots of different looks. I will be posting on BreakingtheFormat.com my lists one by one, with a little dialog about each, over the next week. I am proud to grab one for the Trollbloods and all of my Troll Brothers (and sisters). Thanks again!
Glad to see the Trolls pull through! Just wish I could have been there to see it!

Definitely looking forward to seeing the lists. I've seen the Doomy1 list, but the other 2 would be quite interesting to see. Is it fair to say breakingtheformat will have more info soon?
