Actually we've talked a bit at our lgs about giving it a go just for kicks. Most of us didn't actually play mk1 so it would be something new for a day and then back to mk2.

There are more and more models out now that just don't have a Mk I version though. You could try to convert them, but they're just going to be Mk II models in Mk I, underpowered compared to everything else.

MK2. The system is just so much more streamlined and balanced.
And forget MK1 Bane Knights. Those were just frustrating. Imagine MK1 eVlad. Imagine if he got Eliminators.
I have thought about running a just for kicks kind of event where people can use MK1 cards (with MK2 point values). The problem is, most of my guys have only been playing since MK2. I should see if it can be swung as a midnight event at a con.![]()

Mk2 is alot more balanced but Mk1 was more fun imo. Don't get me wrong i LOVE this game. But i signed up for the crazy mk1 stuff. MK2 is really good but they are homogenizing WAY to much.
I like power attacks, so MK2 for me. MK1 had so many penalty's to power attacks, besides the occasional slam I never saw one made. And some things were just stupid, like Skarres red button of auto-win.
And I play trollbloods, so it's nice to do things outside the brick and without for fitting anything to do something other.

Mk1 was extremely broken in many MANY respects. I'm just hoping years from now when mk3 comes out (or even mk2 remix) they find a happy balance. TBH my only real gripe overall with MK2 is the sharing of signature spells and abilities.
Mark 2 because the balance makes it more fun for everyone.

Mark 2 for sure. Though I would like to once try and include some spells that were lost in the transition from MK1. Like Sandblast on Amon. Any other cool spells that you miss?
Locally, we've talked multiple times about playing MKI evening/tournament or something. Then we remember how good MKII is compared to MKI (which was still awesome), we laugh it off and proceed to enjoy MKII.

I MUCH MUCH prefer MKII. The game was fun in MKI, and I enjoyed demoing it for people, but the overall enjoyment grew exponentially with MKII.
I would say I do miss some abilities, mostly the Bloodgorgers and Gerlak Slaughterborn, since those are the ones I was most let down about.
And Shadow Wings. 10 inch teleport on pGaspy? Yes, please!!!
if you told me I would have to play Warmachine MK1 or nothing, I think I would just quit.
I don't even know how i put up with some of the nonsence in MK1
