Kaelyssa 35 Points, New to Retribution tailored againt Menoth
So just as the title states, I'm new to Retribution. I've been plating Hordes for about 4 or 5 months, with Circle as my chosen faction. I almost started the game with retribution, but because there was no battlebox I went in another direction. Now that I have played the game for a bit, and just reading up on models/units tend to make much better sense, I have decided to jump on the summer bundle and get into the Faction that first intrigued me. So with the summer bundle I got:
Kaelyssa
2 Heavy Myrmidon kits,
Mage Hunter full unit
Mage Hunter UA
Mage Hunter Assassin
I also dropped some extra money initially and got a few more things:
Houseguard Halberdiers + Ua
Dawnguard Sentinels + UA
Stormfall Archers
2 x Ghost Snipers
P Eiryss
Arcanist
My 2 friends that I play with mostly are running Protectorate with pKreoss and eFeoria, and Cygnar with Constance.
Menoth Heavy Jacks are Reckoner, Vanquisher, and the light is either repenter or redeemer, depending on the caster.
Exemplar errants, Choir, Book, Vassals, Niocia and Piper all regularly show up in his lists. He is more of a serious player and likes to run the best list as possible, while as my Cygnarian friend is more like me in that we are casual players and like to try things out of the ordinary just for fun.
These are the 2 lists I have come up with to deal with Menoth:
Kaelyssa +7
Daemon Heavy -9
Phoenix Heavy -10
Dawnguard Sentinal Max + UA -11
Stormfall Archers -5
Ghost Sniper x2 -4
pEiryss -3
My thought is the Sentinels holding my front line with Half up front, half just behind so that in the extreme circumstance that I do not get the first charge, vengeance will allow my second line to move up and get in 2 attacks before they can attack again. Meanwhile the Daemon can help clear up infantry as well in case my Sentinels fail, since Exemplar Errants are very resiliant, especially when they are ran with the Piper. The Daemon also has two open fists to throw some enemy Jacks around giving my Stormfall Archers an easy target to brutal shot. The Phoenix will shoot from range until its time to mix it up in melee. I thought I could either spread my Snipers and Eiryss out, using them to pick off support, like the choir and vassals, or keep them close together to inflict 9 points of damage to the system I want on the light Jack.
My other list:
Kaelyssa +7
Banshee Heavy -10
Phoenix Heavy -10
Houseguard Halberdiers Max +UA -9
MHSF Max +UA -10
Arcanist -1
MHA -2
Seeing that I have yet to run any list with Retribution, any advice and constructive criticism would be great, especially since assembly takes so long and I'd like to have a 35 list ready for the weekend. All my models should be here in the next day or two. So what do you guys think?
