    Default Dire Trolls Play Catch

    Sorry if this should be in the rules forum.

    My son's Thunderhead is seriously ticking me off! It doesn't help that he also has learned how to use it cunningly and well. What I'd love to do just once (with careful set up) is have my EBDT two-hand throw the thunderhead within range of my DTM who would two-hand throw it within range of Mulg who would proceed to bash it mercilessly.

    I've checked the knock down rules and the throw rules. It doesn't say that I can't throw a knocked down model (throw #2 above). Have I missed something?

    Its possible, but be aware that you throw away from the a base, you cant toss the thunderhead across your own base. So landing the thunderhead in the correct position isnt always that easy, especially since it will scatter every time .

    And if that scatter hits and knocks down your other mauler, well, then you're kinda hosed anyway. Getting a throw without a target to land in the right spot is tricky, and getting it to happen twice is just flat out luck.

    But if the thunderhead is annoying you, just get him in melee. The pulse is on his ranged weapon, so he can't do it when he's engaged, and in melee he's semi-pillow fisted.

    Just if you have a Mauler and EBDT in the same list, just put Rage on EBDT and send him in. Should be enough damage output to take out the T-Head. <-(Estimating)

    Yeah ditto the guy above. If you can get the EBDT in to 2-hand throw T-head, then you can simply use EBDT to kill T-head.

    use feral geists or whelps as homing beacons

    Whelps! Good idea. I was going to leave a fennblade in front of each catcher while the others spread out and baited him in. Sorry, I have that scene from the Avengers where Hulk ragdolls Loki stuck in my head.

    Thanks Lost Effect. Maybe I'll just use a mauler and go for the grab & smash.

    When my friend's t-head was bugging me, I found that proper application of an EBDT was an excellent solution.

    My big question: If the thunderhead is in walking range of an earthborn, why aren't you just trashing it? Throw rager on him and call it a day.

    If he has Strangeways in the list, the T-head can ignore free strikes... So, tying him up isn't always an option...
