Default Which casters complement each other best?

    Hi all,

Just seeking a bit of advice from those folks who've perhaps played more tournaments than me with Cryx

The tournaments I usually play in are SR2012, 2 lists at 35pts. Which 2 Cryx casters best complement each other, and what are their lists designed to do eg. assassinate, scenario (which one/s) etc.

I'm pondering taking eGaspy allrounder and pDenny stealth. The eGaspy would be vs most and the pDenny perhaps vs heavy shooting lists like Ret, eLylth, Kaine etc.

I'm not locked into those 2 casters though, just seeking input. Thanks for looking!

I don't think pDenny wants to be taken against eLylyth or eCaine, I'd stick with eGaspy in that match. pDenny relies on stealth, which Legion tends to ignore. And against eCaine, the caustic mist clouds will protect you more than stealth, too, as he'll likely sit with true shot on himself if you have a stealth caster. She does do very good against Ret, though.

eGaspy really only has one bad match-up, and that's pHaley. Barrier stops his feat cold, though even in that game he can do okay by spamming caustic mist.

In closing, if you're taking eGaspy, you can take whoever you want as your second caster because he's simply that good.
    Insufferable?

Cool. I think I'll take eGaspy and pDenny and see what happens. The tournament doesn't require that I use the 2nd list. There also isn't much Ret around my way, so maybe I'll use eGaspy for it all!

It would be so good to see a sticky of "which caster does best vs which enemy caster". That would help predict which ones might be better in your local meta.

If going with a caster like eGaspy that really needs Tartarus and WSC, a jack caster is good as a second option, such as eSkarre or Morty. They can utilize DJ, Nightmare and/or Malice (if going out of tier for Morty) and not care much about character infantry, while Gaspy gets everything he wants to get his grubby hands on.

Staying away from characters altogether like pSkarre (maybe Gerlak, but doesn't care about the others) or something that works well with Mercs, like pDenny or Scaverous are good options too.

Generally I take one list that supports Biles well (eGaspy, Scaverous, Coven) so I can deal with an infantry spam list and then whatever else that doesn't use the characters in my first list. Lately it's been eSkarre and Scaverous, with eSkarre being the main list.

eSkarre and just about everyone else. No, seriously.

    Thinking on:

    List 1

    eSkarre
    DJ
    Nightmare
    Deathripper (too many jacks?)
    max satyxis + ua
    sat. raider captain
    pistol wraith

This list would probably be pretty fast.

    List 2

    eGaspy
    Cankerworm
    BLT
max banethralls + ua (don't own knights yet)
    min bile thralls
    Gerlak
    Pistol wraith
    warwitch siren
    WSC
    Gorman

This tries to be an allrounder list. I'll get knights one day! I do like a heavy infantry list for eGaspy with knights, banethralls and bilethralls, but the turns are only 7 mins and I really don't think I could finish turns with an infantry spam list. Also I'm down 1 pt

The 3rd list I'm pondering (instead of eskarre) is pdenny stealth:

    pDenny
    deathripper
    Nightmare
    skarlock thrall
    BLT
    max banethrall + ua
    Gerlak
    Pistol wraith
    warwitch siren
    machine wraith

    Comments appreciated!

I wouldn't go with 1 Pistol Wraith, even with eSkarre, it's 2 or nothing. Either drop the Raiders to minimum to add a second, which I don't recommend. Or drop the PW, upgrade the Ripper to a Ripjaw and add a Skarlock or Surgeon, I recommend the Skarlock. It's not too many jacks either, you've got 2 kill vectors (DJ and Nightmare) and a node, which is perfect for her.

Same with eGaspy, you don't use one PW, I actually don't think it fits in the list at all. You'd only be using it for board control, by freezing enemy heavies, but you've already got Gorman and Caustic Mist.
I also recommend at least one node for him. If you had knights, I'd tell you to drop the PW and swap the Thralls out of Knights, giving you 4 points for a node, but you don't have them. I think Cankerworm is cool with him, but I think your best option is to drop the PW and Canker, for 2 nodes.

pDenny looks ok, but I'd recommend 2 nodes for her. You could drop the PW and Machine Wraith for 1. Since, at this point, I'm going to assume you don't have a second PW, I won't suggest to drop Gerlak for one

Gerlak is also good for egaspy's feat since he's mat 8 and gets bonus vs damaged models.

I know, I would leave Gerlak in, but if he really wants Pistol Wraiths, that's where I'd look to put an extra one in.

IMO, I would never play eGaspy without Bane Knights. The reach is just so important for the feat.

Yeah, and I would drop the Bane Thralls down to minimum. The UA is a fun feat model, but you should spend points on knights.

I've been running Terminus, Asphyxious and Venethrax or Skarre and Venethrax. Terminus, Asphyxious or Skarre I generally try to use in matchus against warmachine armies, Venethrax I try to use against Hordes.

Venethrax I run a tier list with Gerlak as my only character. Whoever I am running as my warmachine matchup caster gets the Combine and Wrathe

Blakeh1 mind if you give a sample of your Vene list? Im debating picking him up against hordes? Im just curious how you build him as he has a very interesting set of skills so not sure if you tank him up or play him a bit more conservatively until you have the right situations.
