    Default Drop Bears

As many of you are aware, a consortium of ne'er-do-wells foisted a Cygnar army onto my lap in the guise of a Christmas gift, despite my well-advertised distaste of the faction. As they stated in their manifesto, they knew that because I love my friends, evil as they may be, I would have to honour the gift by actually playing with the models. Further, because I'm me, I'd have to tweak the list to my preferences re: playstyle. Accordingly, since there's a Journeyman League running at The Hobby Kingdom right now, I've sucked it up and started painting filthy, filthy Morrowans. Behold.

Why are they carrying swords and not cricket bats?

The painting is beautiful. The colour selection superb. Loving the bases.

Oh - and I feel your pain.

The paint scheme really got my interest when I saw the storm smith/storm tower. The khaki coat breaks up the colours nicely and I think your troops will look awesome if you continue with this. Not sure about the jacks, maybe try a bit of khaki on the jack heads or the odd bit of metal.

All in all, a great start to the army. Good work mate.

PS - Just because you have relocated to Canada and escaped the wrath of the drop bears, you do not have the right to mock our nations most terrifying fauna and the plight of those of us who face them every day. The instant I saw the title of this thread my militant training from my school years kicked into "GO!" mode and I had already loaded the shotgun, donned my claw proof singlet and put a can of XXXX Gold in the freezer for post DB slaying celebrations, before I then saw photos of toy soldiers... Enjoy your ex pat lifestyle of maple syrup and bacon, and remember while Canada may have no drop bears, it does have bears (of some sort) and I hear those mounted police are not always the most intelligent of possible heroes you'd want to have to come and interrupt a Canadian Grizzly chewing on your army transport bag.

I spent 26 years of living in fear of walking under the wrong kind of Eucalypt. I've been in Canuckistan less than half that. I'll mock what I damn well please

Besides, I'm not mocking them - clearly, the army is an attempt to spread Drop Bear awareness - this could save lives, dammit!

Splendid work, old boy. Might I be so bold as to ask how you painted the trench-coats on Stryker and the Stormsmiths?

Came expecting some kind of Koala-themed army (Heavily converted Hordes army, perhaps), or at least Australian-themed, left sadly disappointed.

Very striking colour scheme, though. I like it.

Living in Sunny Florida, I am sadly ignorant of this "Drop Bear" phenomenon. I'm guessing it has something to do with Koala in trees.

Without being too explicit: Is it similar, but maybe more horrifying in scale, to the fear I experience when a group of pale persons from the frozen north feed potato chips to sea gulls on the beach? The problem being what goes up, must come down?

You could kinda say it's like a Koala. Just instead of lurking in trees eating eucalyptus and being cute, they wait for unsuspecting passers so they can drop from above and eat your face off.

Really love the alt color scheme, great job. I feel the paint on the cloth elements seems oddly textured though, what's causing that? It looks...dusty? Hard to describe it, but it's not a very smooth layer of paint it would seem by the pictures.

Simple, but effective. This is going on the upcoming Rhulic dudes. Thanks aplenty.

Yes, yes, "last minute for Templecon" for me means 2+ weeks of work... so I'm a slow painter...

Loving the green especially on the smaller scale models like the storm towers. Not really digging it on the Stormwall though. Nice work all in all.

Pretty darn great for a bunch of cake-eaters. *tip of the hat to Magnus*. I probably would have painted them all in a Cryxian scheme for spite...but to each his own.

In time, but there's no way I'll be able to get any painted in time for Tcon, unfortunately.

Not yet. I've been trying to get a handle on them, but thus far I haven't been able to find my groove. I'm fully expecting to lose at least 80% of my games at Templecon, but I'll be darned if I don't try to have fun while doing so.
