Default Old Rowdy charges Warhog with Watcher on it

    So following thing happens:

Old Rowdy charges a War Hog with Watcher on it (Sturm & Drang).
The War Hog uses his Mowement to move out of reach of Old Rowdy.
The War Hog ends his Movement 4 inch from Old Rowdy.

The following questions arrise from the situation:

Does Old Rowdys countercharge kick in ?
Does Old Rowdy get a Freestrike ?
Does Old Rowdy get his intial charge attacks (the War Hog moved away after old Rowdy finshed his charge move) ?

    I believe:

As Watcher doesn't make a model immune to free strikes, Rowdy would get a free strike.
As the War Hog has advanced and ended movement within 6" of Rowdy, assuming Rowdy isn't engaged at the time he would get to perform a counter charge. (including the one free charge attack that ability allows)
If the War Hog is then within Rowdy's melee range when he starts his combat action, Rowdy would get his normal initial attacks including a charge attack.

So moving would potentially be subjecting the War Hog to two additional attacks. (ouch!)

    Ok !
Just to get things straigt !
If another Warjack without Countercharge attacks a War Hog with Watcher on it, does the Warjack only get his free strike and does he loose his intital charge attacks, cause the War Hog moves out of the melee range ?

Yes, since the War Hog would then move before the other jack could attack, he would no longer be able to make his charge attack. If there are other models in melee range he can still make his initial attacks against those models however (but he does not get the boosted damage from the charge attack, since that would only apply against his charge target).
Keep in mind that there is no such thing as "initial charge attacks", when a model charges it can make one charge attack with one of its weapons, the rest of the model's initial attacks are not charge attacks.

Not sure about Watcher and free strikes.

But, if the Hog moves out of range, then the jack has made a successful charge. He may now take his full compliment of attacks against any legal targets, but his first attack will not receive the charge boost as the target is no longer in melee.

I could be off base here, but I didn't think a model could counter charge on its activation because it triggers on movement which is a phase of a models activation, and does not apply to out of activation advancing?

Counter Charge triggers when a model advances and ends its movement within 6", which the War Hog is doing. It doesn't specify that it only triggers during the other model's activation.

If that's the case, wouldn't Rowdy get a double charge? The initial charge was successful, so it's first initial attack vs its charge target is boosted. Even though the hog is out of range after its Watcher move, the counter charge, which would fully resolve before Rowdy's initials, would put him back in range and thus his first initial would be boosted.

    Seems fishy to me.

Edit: Bladestorm explained it long before I got here doesn't seem right to me.

See a previous discussion of the following sequence:
    1. Model A charges Model B.
    2. Model B moves away from A using Admonition.
    3. Model A then uses Counter Charge to charge B again.

Yes you can get Counter Charge to trigger during your model's activation.

This would behave the same as admonition except that you wouldn't be immune to the freestrike.

But what about the "initial charge attacks". Imagine the following situation:
A Warjack charges a War Hog
War Hog moves away through Vision
Does the Warjack make his "initital charge attacks" or are they just wasted ?

Sorry if i have to ask again but ist 08:00 am in the morning and i havent got my first coffee !

If the charge target is not in range when the charging model finally gets to make its attacks (but the charge target was in range at the end of the charging model's charge move), then the charging model gets to swing at whatever else happens to be in range. That's a result of the second to last paragraph in the right hand column on page 47 of Prime Mk II, the last paragraph of the charge rules before Charges Outside of Activation.

The charging model moves, and at the end of that movement you determine whether the charge succeeds or fails. Every single other model on the board could turn to dust or teleport a million miles away between the end of the charging model's movement and when the charging model got to make its action, and the charge that was in range when the charging model stopped moving would still be a success.
