    Default Mercs for the Motherland

Ok, so I've been thinking of picking up Valachev and adding some Mercs to my overall army collection. What do you guys/gals use the most and why? I hear talk of Nyss Hunters and I like what I've read so far, but is there anything else out there that goes really with Valachev and Khador? Thanks.

pAlexia and Valachev are a match made in heaven.... I have used them a couple of times, and they are really very very good.

Boomhowler and Valachev are great with pButcher.
Herne & Jonne + Valachev + eIrusk are also good for Fire-For-Effect awesomeness.

Valachev is like bacon. He makes everything better. If I could I would attach him to khador units. His spell list is universally useful for merc units melee or ranged, living/dead/construct, big and small, etc. Lady Aiyana and Master Holt and Valachev, Zepher 3" and still forfeit movement or kiss and spray. eIrusk and any of the living mercs for tough and access to his spells.
While he can't fix the ones that Khador should not take from the start, except for the ones that he can't be attached to their really is no bad answer.

I tend to agree... Free moves and upkeep removal is universally usefull. Do note however, that there are in fact a few units that he has some negative synergies with. More specifically Croe's Cutthroats and the Hammerfall Highshield Gun Corps that will loose their Bushwack, Double Time and Shield Wall orders if Valachev is attached.

I'm not using any Mercenaries' units yet, just the obvious solos.

Planning ahead for lVlad I started thinking about the Steelhead Heavy Cavalry: Thanks to their Backswing ability they sound pretty interesting regarding lVlads feat (if I get it right).

    Charge + 1'' + 2'' SideStep + Backswing + Sprint | Question is: Can I Backswing after SideStep?

Do I get it right that Koldun Kapitan Valachev could be attached to and would make the Steelheads a regular Khadorian unit? Being able to profit from lVlad's feat and Dash?

And do I get Zephyr right as well? Would I regularly have an additional movement for all the Steelheads (ignoring free strikes) thanks to Valachev? So with lVlad's feat I would go for:

    Charge + 1'' + 2'' SideStep + Backswing + Sprint + additional movement?!?

That sounds too good to be true.

Btw: Could someone please provide the exact stats of the Steelheads?

Unfortunately Valachev can not be used with large based models.

Nooooo! Are you sure about it? BC doesn't say anything about base sizes? (Just a last small hope. )

Battleclinic is not a good source of rules. Valachev can only be attached to small and medium based merc units.

Sad to hear so. Would've been such a great option for lVlad. Possibly simply too good...
