Default Colossals/Gargantuans: One Off or First of their Kind?

I was curious, seeing as Colossals are probably going to be a huge success, if the Cygnar boards are anything to judge (and Mercs/Menoth at least I think). Is there a potential to unveil additional load-outs on the same frame? Maybe some with more melee focus, or different load-outs? Maybe some with a non-symetrical build?

Same question can be posed for Battle Engines. Now that we have rules and baseline, might we be seeing more somewhere down the line?

I expect we'll be seeing more Battle Engines and Colossals/Gargantuans eventually. Look at things like cavalry, and even UAs -- originally each were basically one-offs, but now we're getting hints towards new cavalry units for several factions, as well as alternate UAs.

On the other hand, given the time frame, new Battle Engines and Colossals may well be at least a couple of years down the road.

My guess is PP is not going to leave its newfound resin-sculpting/casting skills idle. We'll see at least 1, maybe 2 120mm based things (whether they be casters, battle engines, colossals/gargantuans, or something else) per book.

I'm already eagerly waiting for a Character Stormwall Upgrade Kit. And after that maybe an Epic Character Stormwall Cygnar Colossal. Aaaand after that maybe a new Colossal; maybe something non-electrical? Lots of chainguns and defender guns and stuff.

Not being able to field my upcoming Character Colossal with two Stormwall in a standard 50p game makes me kinda sad panda (unless it costs 18 points), but I guess I can work something out.

We already know Legion is getting a second Battle Engine (Warlock). I'm sure that's a test run for the Gargantuan Warlock we all want to see. I'm sure we'll see more huge base models, but it'll largely depend on the sales of the current crop to determine how many there will be.

At least for everything else except Cryx the colossals look like they could do very well with upgrade boxes.

Also, as most of the battle engines have huge empty areas on their bases, I wouldn't count out the possibility of upgrades that fill up the real estate there.

Cryx has never been one to stick with the pack.

As for that empty base real estate, there are a lot of nice resin bases you can buy to give some character to your basing.

they will do more. I asked at L&L and the answer I got is that as long as they sell well there will be more. Even a possible Giants army in the far future if the huge base models are a success. Asked about the giants and got a joking it would be an army that costs a grand with a unit of giants.

Single wound huge based models would be pretty hilarious.

Or, you know, you could build a nice diorama base too....

After seeing your storm strider at L&L it made me want to do a base for my Conquest, one with the colossal stepping over a cygnaran trench. It looks good.

I hope to see more of this big stuff but not too much more, it hurts my wallet too much.

Well, I asked Seacat abou them, and he wasn't sure about a giants army from a fluff perspective. They're a race where every single one of them is important and has a name. There are only a few hundred left in the world. Making them into an army would kind of belittle their rarity in a way. I tend to agree. I actually hope that they don't ever make the giants into an army.

It'd certainly be novel to have a side where literally every choice was a named character solo, and you'd have one or two Gargantuan-sized beasts, a few enormous multiwound solos and a warlock making up a whole 50pt list. Be a nightmare with character restrictions, though

well its a fairy tale idea right now. The gist I got was that it would be one unit of named individuals as the whole army. think of it as a army of battle engines with one being the leader/caster. as for character restirictions. Just give each their name but don't give them character status on the card. make them FA1 Giant models.

Regarding the giants; I hope not.

Regarding the OPs question: I do not know, as foremost a Trollblood player I feel both ways. I was severely let down by the MtK. A new one must actually give some thing new (note 1: not "better") and competitive (note 2: not "OP") to the faction. Another (expensive in both pts and $$) model handling low DEF, min-med ARM inf would kind of kill my interest to continue with the TB:s (and perhaps the game) due to PPs apparent lack of support for the faction. However, if there was some kind of upgrade that actually made the MtK a worthwhile alternative in faction it would be highly interesting.

I know they are doing Lylith3 on a huge base but I hope they hold back a bit more on them. I mean we got battle engines and now colossals/gargantuans. I mean they are all supposed to be "special"/rare and not an everyday thing. I'm happy they decided to flesh out minions instead of giving them a gargantuan. I love my stormwall and I'm happy I picked it up but I don't want a battle engine or colossal in every book or even every other book but that is just my opinion.
