    Default Feralgeist possessing Gargantuans

My buddy and I were talking tactics and strategy the other night in regards to gargantuans and colossals. The topic of the feralgeist came up and now we gotta know.

    I see 2 situations:

#1. If I kill my opponents gargantuan that is within the cmd range of a his feralgeist, will his geist take over the deceased gargantuan?

I want to say yes b/c the feralgeist and gargantuan were his and colossal rules state that they cannot ever be controlled by your opponent.

#2. If I kill my opponents gargantuan that is within the cmd range of my feralgeist, will my geist take over the deceased enemy gargantuan?

I want to say no b/c of the rules stating that colossals cannot be controlled or taken over by the enemy.

    Thanks for the clarification.

I want to agree with you because of the exact points you stated.

I want to know why rules relating to Colossals have any bearing on a Gargantuan at all?

So far all I know about the Mountain King is that it is a kind of war beast, it can therefore be possessed by a Feralgeist unless there is a rule that I have not seen (quite possible) that states otherwise.

If you're speculating about rules that have not been released then this is not the place to do it.

Given the preview rules that come with the Mountain King, which have the same restrictions as Colossals regarding taking control, it looks like "no" to both questions. This could, as usual, change when the actual book comes out if that text is changed (highly unlikely, however).

So you can not take control over your own Gargantuan ? that sounds a little strange, is that because it stops being my Gargantuan before the feralgeist wants to take control or what ?

I may as well claim that the image leaves out "And Feralgiests are nerfed, too" right below the "any means." line.

I think you can't feralgeist you own gargantuan. Not because of the taking control clause - that specifically mentions the opponent - but because it must be assigned to a battlegroup. Feralgeist doesn't work with that.

Both of the OP's questions asked about opponent's gargantuan. I misread the first question, though. The rule does not say you can't take control of your own gargantuan, so as written I think you can. I'll double check that one, though, but you may not get an answer until release.

    And verified answers.

You can use your own Feralgeist to spirit bind to your own gargantuan in the event of its untimely demise.

You cannot use your own Feralgeist to spirit bind to your opponent's gargantuan, because of the specific rule disallowing it.

How does that interact with the rule that a gargantuan must be assigned to a battlegroup? Is that only a rule at the start of the game? (and if so, I didn't realize you could have any warbeast not assigned to a battlegroup at the start of the game).

It's just to make them future proof and a bit of copy/paste from the colossals rules. If they make one day a beast marshal, this rule will prevent gargantuans from being marshaled.

Well, I don't have the Gargantuans text in front of me, but on the Colossals side, that rule also includes what will happen if a colossal has their controller killed and is reactivated: it becomes autonomous instead of coming under control of a jack marshal. I expect similar will be present in Gargantuans, but that's straying into another question, and we're only supposed to have one question per thread.
