It appears that I got too carried away on this battle damage on eVlad's armor. Any ideas as to how I can salvage this and make it look more presentable? Any and all ideas are welcome!

"Is that gasoline I smell, Mr. Gideon?"
I think a wash would be good to show some depth so the tone isn't so two tone flat looking, and it should help to distinguish the paint material from the metal material

What I would recommend is that you should get a final red highlight and line it under the battle damage it will help to give it depth.
Here is a great tutorial on how to do simple but amazing battle damage.

On the up edge of where red meets silver, a careful line of black or brown. On the down hill edge, a careful line of khaki or bone.
It will look great.
