25pt 2 list tourney help

So coming up here in a few days I might be attending a 25pt 2 list sr2012 tourney. But to be honest I don't have any experience with the sr rules, or tourneys in general for that matter. I play a lot of casual games with my cygnar, but this is new territory for me. So what should I be aiming for with the 2 lists? One for anti armor, one for anti def? The casters I am most comfortable with are eStryker, eHaley, and eCaine, but I also have pCaine, pHaley, siege, and Kara that I can use. So of these casters what are some good duos to go with? Seems like eCaine is a good choice just because of the game size. But I am guessing that reinholdt, and eEiryss are going to be taken for character restrictions with him, so no siege or Kara? Idk, hopefully you guys with more experience with this style can help me with this.

When I plan for a tournament I make two lists, an all comers and an assassination. At 25 points your best bet is estryker, as he is well balanced and can play assassination or attrition. I would use ecaine as your second list as he is the ultimate assassin. Post up some lists so we can get an idea of what your thinking.

Then 6 points of support? If needed I can pick up runewood I think before the tourney. But here options I was considering was jr, runewood, Gorman, Rhupert, madelyn, and any filler points can be WA for the blades. Although maybe Madelyn should go with Caine.

I have been using sword knights a lot more lately, and i am really liking them, especially with eStryker. I was contemplating adding runewood, and when I realized he gives the sword knights reform it seems pretty strong, especially on feat turn. Running reforming and feat movement is pretty easy flankings. Due to a bunch on minimum units jr doesn't seem quite worth it. I really wish I owned full sword knights about now. But that gives me infantry of a lot of favors, access to pathfinder and a lot of buffs through runewood, flank, positive charge. Any thoughts?

And then for Caine it is a little trickier. So for eCaine I was thinking

This is just straight up assassination. Not sure if all of this is necessary or not. Only having the sword knights, and to a lesser extent rangers, to screen Caine and Madelyn seems low. I was considering dropping rowdy to a hunter or something for more points in a screening unit. Maybe min precursors and UA. Ranked attacks, I think, and more self sufficient. They are also a threat themselves.

Well hopefully the lack of advice means I am doing it right . The tournament is tomorrow so I will post how it goes. Think I am going to go with the lists posted in my last post.

In the first list I would drop the blades for JR and max the SK.

Can't. Don't own them. Only have enough to get runewood in the next couple hours unfortunately . I'm starting to really like the SK too. Need to max them eventually

Well I won the tourney. Round 1 vs Legion (Saeryn). Round 2 vs Circle (eKaya). Round 3 vs Menoth (eFeora).

These are the lists I took. Although I bought Runewood right before the tournament, I ended up playing my Caine list all 3 games >.<. Not a bad list, but the SK are merely a speed bump. Never really get to do anything but get killed lol. Madelyn was also never needed at all. She blocked a potential charge lane once... kinda. Rowdy also never did much but say "hey don't walk there, I will charge you". Don't think he attacked all tournament. I would drop Madelyn and Rowdy, for a cheaper jack, and add some way to up my melee potential.

Also round 1 and 3 were won off of scenario. No assassinations. Never had much of a chance, despite it being eCaine.

I'm not an e-Caine player (yet) so I'll stay away from that one but on the e-Stryker list, for future use I find the piper to be a little redundant with runewood. In character restricted I will always save one or the other for a second list, but E-stryker likes Runewood because the duke is allowed to target him in addition to units. So on that note - couple ways you can go - but basically I would go from three melee options to two (I like Sword Knights and Stormblades) and add in Jr.

AS on the sormblades direct or Sword Knights first and then cycle it back depending on your running them.

At 35 all I'd add would be Ol' Rowdy (the affinity is huge with how close to the front Stryker can get) and my crutch the squire.


Also on a different note I am pretty sure you can't reform after a run (as their activation ends immediately).

Yeah I agree with the lowering the melee options to 2, but if you look at what I have I unfortunately don't own full SKs. The eStryker list was far from optimal, but it could still work alright. I don't like the precursors much with him. With the winnings though I am going to max out my SKs to full, with the UA. I have really been enjoying them with eStryker, and was quite sad to only have a min unit available.

My reasoning behind runewood with Rhupert is that I don't value tough very high without access to standing them up. My Caine list didn't really need them either. If there was 3 lists though there would be a good chance it would need the access to pathfinder unfortunately.

Is that true with reform? I though reform was after the activation or something. Never used it much.

Glad to see everyone is recommending SKs though, because they have been performing really well for me, even at a min unit! Can't wait to max them out.

Hmm I see what you men with reform... It is after each model in this unit has completed their ACTIONS not activation. So the way I read it is you never "complete" your action seeing as how you use it to run. So it seems that you are correct. Sad I wanted to run 12 reform 3 feat 3 18.5" thread with positive charge flank sounded awesome.
